You can't revert. It is not supported by Apple.

Not sure how long Apple will keep the window open to verify a downgrade to IOS 5.1.1 but I just downgraded from IOS 6 to 5.1.1 and it worked fine on my iPad 2, but hurry if you want to revert back cause once apple refuses to verify the old software update you'll be stuck with IOS6 and an inferior map interface. See below for links.

You can download iOS 5.1.1 from here:

Once Apple sort out maps and adds street view I'll update or if Google Provides a Maps App with street view, if none of these happen I'll stick with 5.1.1 for now. Wish I'd never updated in the first place to be honest. Wouldn't say it was the most exciting update of new features anyway, especially the car crash which is Maps!

Yeah I was the same, I was a bit nervous about following the downgrade tutorial incase it screwed up my iPad but sounds like I was one of the lucky ones who was able to revert back. Guess you'll just have to ride it out till a solution to the terrible Maps is found. Sorry I couldn't help. By the amount of complaints and terrible reviews of Maps I'm sure Apple are on the case, at least I hope they are. They need to listen to their customers rather than concentrating on total world domination. Very short sighted of them to release an inferior Map solution, they got it wrong big time on this I'm afraid!!! Bet android users are laughing tonight.

Yes, this is possible. I just did it.

Firstly, download the 5.1.1 IOS Software. Can be found on google.

Plug your ipod into itunes. Back-up if needed.

Put the ipod in DFU Mode (Hold both power and home buttons for ten seconds, then release the power button and continue holding the home button for 10 more seconds then release)

When this is done, the ipod screen should be black and no apple logo will appear.

Back in itunes. Hold shift key (PC) or Option key (MAC) and click on restore. This will open a tab allowing you to choose the IOS you want to install (ie. IOS 5.1.1)

Let itunes do the rest.
