Are you currently jailbroken? Is your iPhone still operable? If so, you might do a phone reset and then try restoring your iPhone. It has to do with the way iTunes obtains the SHSH Blobs. Is this error happening when trying to restore your iPhone?

Thanks for your quick response. I purchased offically unlocked phone from store in Jun 2011. My phone still works. While i am trying to update to IOS6, the status in itunes shows (1) Extracting software (2) Backup (or) sometimes verfying iphone update with Apple and then erro message (3014) pops up.

That usually has to with how iTunes is pulling the SHSH Blobs. You might need to reset your iPhone. If that doesn't work, restore your iPhone which will also update it.

So by "reset phone" do you mean just reboot it by holding down the 2 buttons OR reset to factory settings option?

Go into your settings and reset your settings on the iPhone.

I'm having a similar issue but when I go to restore the phone, it gives me an unknown error - I can't restore it. Has anyine had this problem come up?

You will need to use a different computer. Then, iTunes will restore it for you.

But if you move your device to a different computer, don't you need to have all of your music, apps, etc. moved to that computer as well so you can restore?

After you restore it, you can go back to your other computer and then do your restore from backup to load in all of your settings, contacts, messages etc.

Okay.... so let me see if I have this right.  I sync to my current computer making sure it has the most current version of iTunes.  I go to another computer without iTunes and download the latest version to it. I go into settings and reset my iPhone.  I plug in my iPhone to the computer that has the just downloaded plain vanilla version of iTunes and let it discover my iPhone.  I then click to update the phone to iOS 6.  If/when sucessful, I return to my original computer and do a restore from backup.  That will not overwrite the newly installed iOS6 but will bring all of my songs, video, pictures, contacts, etc. back to the iPhone.   Is this right and am I missing anything?

Nope, you have it covered. But is your iPhone in recovery mode right now or is it operable?

    Did the reset not help?

Currently fully operational.  Just fails with the 3014 error.  I'm about to try the reset and update but just wanted to be clear on the next step if this doesn't work.  Thanks for your help.  I'll post if I can't update.   I do have 2 iTunes user IDs on the phone, one for personal apps and one for office apps.  But not sure if that could cause a problem.  I'll see how it goes....
