Possible to increase map detail?

Minor roads are virtually impossible to see unless you zoom in, and level of detail is significantly reduced. Checked settings, no way to change this that I can see.

Don't want to make this a map-bashing thread, just want to have a usable map. Turn-by-turn is great but I'm back to using Google Maps in the browser for now..
