This solution worked for me (iPhone 4S, iOS6).  New apps were not downloading at all for me (though app updates installed just fine).  It would ask for my password and then nothing happened, as if I didn't click on "install".

    Thanks!

Same issue Apps on My Iphone 4 that will not update include:

    1. Facebook
    2. find my iphone
    3. 2screens remote
    4. kindle
    5. linkedin

I have tried deleting apps that would not update to see if it was one app that was hanging up the updates but I just get a whole new set of apps that wont update.  THis has been going on since last week.  My Iphone 5 gets delivered today that will probably fixit  :-)

JUst tried turning off ITunes Match and rebooting phone.  I let you know how it goes.

No Joy.  Also tried logging out of the app store and logging back in. still no Joy.

I had to turn off iTunes Match AND turn on Airplane Mode AND turn off Passbook. Then hard restarted the phone (held down both home button and power button until the apple logo came back on). THEN I synced with the computer again so the phone synced ONLY apps and uploaded all of them. There were no songs to sync (that seems to be the killer). When I was sure all apps were all loaded - no more "installing" - I added the rest of the apps I wanted, and only THEN did I turn on iTunes Match again.

    So far so good.

When it started, no matter how many apps I deleted, there would always be new ones "installing" so it isn't a specific app issue. Be sure to do Airplane Mode, too. Any link to a network from the phone seems to want to download music or somehow slow the process down. It needs to be just the phone and its mommy computer talkin'.

I have a music (video) that is stuck in the iTunes app on my iPad 2 as well. How do I cancel this download? The blue bar is half full. Swiping does NOT bring up a red "delete" button. I can pause the download and restart it. I've already done a reset. I've switched on Airplane Mode. The download does not go away.

Did you swipe left to right? Apple makes it confusing something's you swipe right to left and others left to right. Maybe that's what happens when you have different people writing different parts of the code? Seems like their QC people would catch that. Maybe there is a reason. I can't think of one.

I am swiping furiously here. Left to right, right to left, top to bottom. Nothing.

Just had the same problem - apps loaded directly to 4 would get stuck "Waiting" and apps loaded directly from ITunes would get stuck "Installing".....turned 4 into my IT dept.  They identified the problem to be related to my iTunes Match.  There were songs that were stuck "downloading" from the cloud to the phone (for some reason).  They deleted the songs from my phone and all works as normal again.  iTunes Match working normally again too. Full library still intact as well.

I'm trying to find the common threads in a lot of these problems (I, too, am having problems updating apps, download music, etc.). One item is iTunes Match. That seems to provide a ton of dysfunction off the bat. Another thing MAY be audiobooks. I know, that sounds crazy. But when I first installed ios 6 and had a bunch of problems with my music library, I recovered my music but those pesky audiobooks were MIA. I've since restored the phone and got the auidobooks working.

I definitely detect a download priority going on, and since it's not clear at all how itunes match is now working in the background, I think that might be a strong culprit. iTunes Match worked awesomely well in the last os. Now, it's a big zero for me. I'm gonna check out Amazon's service...

ANOTHER THOUGHT: Could any hangups be due to those darn Genius Playlists? Can't get rid of those and they seem to multiply mysteriously!

I am not using iTunes Match.

Thanks. This is the solution that worked for me!

OK, I just did a hard reset and restored from the Cloud. Everything seems fine now. The music download that was stuck is gone and I can install apps again.

    This also worked for me!

It definitely worked.  IOS 6 is sweet.  The maps aren't what I hoped, but the again I do t want to spend extra cash for Siri.  The 3D looks like an 80's movie but again slower processor.  Mail is nice to have VIPs.  I would miss emails before because of how outlook, was set up originally before I moved to apple mail.  The update to my apple mail has been great.

Only issue is my phone has been freezing up.  Sometimes I can't call out r receive a call or Facebook freezes. Also, I had to restart my phone (4) because my new emails weren't syncing up to my apple mail because they were buying hijacked by my phone.  I restarted my 2010 MacBook Pro and mail synced right up.

Eve with the hiccups, I would take my apple products over anything else every single day of the week!
