I downloaded iOS6 and tried to update my apps.  None of them are able to download the updates.  I can't even download new apps from the updated App Store.  Clicking to update or download an app moves it into the download queue, but either says "waiting" or "doanloading" and no progress is reflected in the blue progress bar for the doanloads.

Is this an issue with my iOS 6 update?  Do I need to restore my phone?  I'm hoping to avoid restoring from a backup. But have tried turning the phone off, signing out of the app store and signing back in, and resetting all the settings from the Settings menu.  Nothing has worked.

Stacey is correct..  music downloads will make the downloading of any apps WAIT until all the music is downloaded first..   if you have several songs queued up in the downloads on the itunes store, you need to cancel out of them to get apps downloading and installing.

Same problem here. iOS 6, iPhone 4. Hope this is a temporary App Store outage?

Same issue here. Reboot didn't help. Restore didn't help.

Signed out of iCloud and iTunes and no help.

Very puzzling but definitely not store outage as iPad updates fine.

I would love to find a solution. Earliest I can see a Genius is Saturday.

I have the same problem, app store can't apply my account settings...

Same thing here.  It doesn't seem to be the wi-fi issue others are having - I can use Safari, stream music, Facebook, etc fine.  Apps just won't download - stuck in an infinite "Waiting" status

i have the same problem. i spoke with apple this morning, the only thing that they could come up with was to plug the iphone into computer, re-download ios6, re-install ios6, then try to update the apps again. this doesn't seem like a solution to me.

    i'm on iphone4 also.

I got the same speech. I have now done that twice. No effect.

The install seems to work fine and I update the apps and they get stuck.

The latest 'brilliant' suggestion from phone support was to create. New AppleId, but some apps and see of that works.

HA. Not going to go down that road.

It does suck to be stuck by a small but present bug of this nature.

    i didn't think they're "solution" would work,

"just keep retrying until it magically works" seems ridiculous,

Same problem here on iPhone  4.  Updated to iOS 6.  Tried to install app updates (via Mac OS X iTunes - plugged into MacBook Pro).  Apps copy over to iPhone, but they don't finish the install process.  They are all frozen and remain so.  I've tried restarting iPhone, deleting apps from iTunes on Mac and redownloading them.  Nothing seems to work.  The only way I've been able to remove the frozen apps is to uncheck them from the iTunes sync and then go to the iPhone and delete them.

iPad 3 is working fine.  Upgraded to iOS 6.  Upgraded same apps (via Mac OS X iTunes - plugged into MacBook Pro), and all apps upgraded just fine.

i've spoken with apple twice about this. according to them they haven't heard of this problem, i'm the only one who has reported it to them.

i guess until enough people contact apple and tell them they're having the problem also apple really will have no reason to fix this for just me.

Started having this problem last night on my iPhone 4 when I tried to install a new app (after successfully updating another).  Install bar stuck on "waiting."  Have tried removing and re-insalling app via iTunes, which got me to a frozen, half-full "installing" bar for about 2 minutes before the blue bar went blank and still was stuck on "installing."  Also tried resetting phone, restarting phone, re-downloading the app over the air.

Nothing works.  How can Apple claim they haven't heard about this problem.  There are threads all over the web about it, but no solutions!

I suspect the iOS upgrade has a bug that they need to fix, since I didn't have this problem before I changed to that--but i don't know since I did successfully update the one app, after the iOS upgrade, then had problems with installing the new one.  Should note: Have also tried to install other apps since the first problem--no luck there either (this isn't specific to one app).

here's the latest apple advised me to try, it seems to be working.

1.delete all the apps that are stuck downloading

2.turn on airplane mode for 30seconds, then turn off
3.go to iTunes, redownload each app one at a time.

    this seems to be working.

I just hooked my ipad up to my Mac, and did a sync.  This took care of the 2 pending updates that I was not able to update.  Will be interested to see if future updates will work the way they are suppossed to......

keep in mind any projects you have going in these apps that you delete will be lost forever if you follow the above solution apple gave me.
