apple id/password not working ios 6 update

Hello i just did the ios 6 update on my iphone 4 and when trying to get through the configuration at the start. I get to the screen where it asks me to enter my apple id and password.. and it keeps giving me an error message apple id or password incorrect"please try another id"


what is the deal with that.. I know the id and password are correct as i just used them to sign into these forums...


any help would be appricated as of right now my phone is stuck and i can not do anything with it.

I cant login with my AppleID.

And yes I know it is correct because I used it to sign in here.


What gives apple?


EDIT: Fixed this by going back a few steps where it asks if I want to sign in or create a new apple ID.

In the bottom right corner you can skip this step.

After that I can get back to my normal phone menu.

Seems that just this step is broken for AppleID validation.

Spent a couple hours with an apple advisor, my account seems to allow me logging into appleid.apple.com,so I know my pass and user are right, however cannot log in to App Store/iTunes, even after resetting pass multiple times.

I don't know if Apple has taken account of these events yet because whomever I talked to from Apple found it as strange as I did... Either update malfunction or device malfunction. Most likely an update malfunction...


Any further info regarding this issue, anybody?

Your thinking too hard. Here are the steps.

1. I updated to ios6

2. I'm walking through the setup and connected to my wifi

3. It asks if I want to sign in with an existing id or create a new one.

Don't press either of these. In the bottom right it says "skip this step"


Do this and you will be able to get to your normal home screen.

All your apps are present and you can update then using your apple I'd and pass.


That's it. Just skip the validation step during the upgrade setup because it def does not work.

I got to the 'skip' step and did so. What irks me is that Apple is not stepping up to fix the problem. This isn't the first time this ID and password issue has come up. When iCloud was first released, legacy users, even those running the most current OS, couldn't and still can't use thier old ID's.


Time for a better solution other than 'get a new ID'

Could someone please help me? Same problem everyone else is having. Tried Thorr686 suggestion, but what do I do if I've already gone through that set up process? How do I get BACK to it to "skip" that step? I had purchased tons of apps and I also had $35 in iTunes credit left and now it's all gone because it says my password is incorrect! I then request a password reset and the email never comes. So I created a new iTunes account and I searched everywhere on it and my old apps are not listed, neither is my credit. What now? Is Apple still not offering a solution or acting clueless like they never have heard of this problem? If I had known I would lose $35 and all my apps I never would've upgraded to ios6!!
