Motorola V3i still does not sync with bluetooth.

According to Apple, 10.4.6 now supports the Motorola V3i 'phone, but having installed 10.4.6 this morning, I can't see any difference. I can still sync via the USB cable, and I can still pair the 'phone via bluetooth, but I can't validate the device when trying to use bluetooth services. Synch via bluetooth and GPRS modem use are still denied to bluetooth users.

Has anyone else got this 'phone to work with 10.4.6?

Thanks,

Keith

This is so an FAQ...

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303418

"iSync supports some versions of Motorola RAZR V3c, V3i, PEBL, SLVR L7, and V360 phones only over USB. If the Bluetooth Setup Assistant reports that "There were no supported services found on your device" when pairing your phone, this indicates that you will not be able to sync this phone using Bluetooth. To sync this phone with iSync use a USB data cable instead."

Thanks. My query arose because until 10.4.6 Apple specifically did not support the V3i - only the V3 'phone, but with this last system update they have specifically added the V3i to the list of supported devices. I therefore expected something to have changed, but as far as I can tell, there is no difference in functionality between 10.4.5 and 10.4.6

Strange since I've synced my V3i over bluetooth fine several times. I saw fine even given the quirks in the address book syncing ie. one contact per number but I can sync calendars and contacts over bluetooth so I don't know what all the noise is about. I will tell you that if you setup the device on bluetooth and try to sync USB or vica versa it doesn't work.

Robert,

Can you tell me please which software version your V3i is running? I may try to see if my retailer can provide an update to the same.

My 'phone currently lists R 479_G08.B4.34R

Thanks,

V3i works with me with 10 4.6 for Isync contacts over blue tooth on a Pismo laptop. Had to pair with File exchange first. Calender events did not sync only contacts.
Browsing the phone works fine even on 10.3.9 and G4 DA. with bluetooth dongle.
Phone will not mount via USB on either machine and Itunes doesnt see it either. Have latest phone drivers from apple.

Hi,

There are two connection modes for USB - Data/Fax, and Memory Card. For the phone to mount on the desktop you must first switch the connection mode on the phone to Memory Card (in the phone Settings/Connection/USB menu).

Uhm... I'm kind of baffled at what just happened here after reading so many "can't sync" posts:

Even in spite of all the posts I've read lately about V3i Bluetooth sync problems with OS X, I decided to buy a V3i yesterday (iTunes version) and I just set it up where it perfectly synced both Address Book and iCal through iSync via Bluetooth. Zero USB cable. In fact the only use for the USB cable it came with is for syncing my iTunes (which also works fine). So how did this happen? Could it be that the latest updates from Apple fixed the problem and no one took the time to post a "resolved issue" message on the forums? I'm telling you, I'm not kidding. I'm checking back right now the phone and yes, there it is: all my contacts (names and all e-mail addresses to each one) and all my iCal calendars on the phone.

The only disappointment I have is that instead of the 100 song cap on iTunes it tells me I can't fit no more than 50 songs. Huh?! Oh well, I can live with just 50 songs as long as the phone syncs the way it should via Bluetooth.
