Sep 28, 2012 7:55 AM in response to acc4ituneby acc4itune,Yesterday night, at home I sincronized with iCloud on the Wi-Fi and I recovered all my settings and data (except the music, that is only in my notebook).
So I am in iOS6 as before (I tried to downgrade to 5.1.1). With AppleMaps without sound, blue arrow, and recalculations.
HOPE: Apple will recognize the big mistake and will permit to download Google Maps from its application store.
Knowing how big Companies react in particular when need to declare a huge failure, we could be talking about a couple of months ... maybe December 1st ...

Sep 28, 2012 1:15 PM in response to Ing Eduardo calderonby Wongers1,I upgraded to ios 6 on my iPad 2 GSM model on launch day and noticed how bad Apple Maps was as well as the removal of the native youtube app. I think its terrible that Apple have removed these 2 great apps.
Anyway, i downgraded mine back ios 5.1.1 pretty much 1 hour after upgrading. I was able to do this no problem. Although I was not able to restore from a ios 6 backup, it could only be done from a previous ios 5 backup and it had to be a backup done on the computer. ICloud wouldnt work.
Today I was at a friends house and my friend wanted to downgrade his iPad 2 wifi model back. So I tried to do a restore with the correct firmware and was greeted with "This device isn't eligible for the requested build". I guess that Apple have closed the door to the downgrading signing window. Which is a massive problem for a lot of people.
Thank god I downgraded mine when I noticed what ios 6 was like.

Sep 28, 2012 1:54 PM in response to Wongers1by PapaCarello,It does seem that Apple has now closed off this route to downgrade. The steps do work but it only worked for a few days after the release. I guess Apple likes to force upgrades on people and than never lets them go back.

Sep 28, 2012 2:15 PM in response to Ing Eduardo calderonby HowieE,Looks like Apple has closed the door on downloading. I wrote Tim Cook a few weeks ago on other issues that their Customer Group could not resolve. That got me a responce from an Executive Support persomel.
If you want to follow up on this he may be the individual to contact.
