Q: updated to iOS 6. Tried turning on Hearing Aid Mode but it reset to OFF?

This is not expected. I updated iPhone 4 to iOS 6. Using the Hearing Aid Mode option I am not able to get it to stay ON after leaving the Settings app? This makes no sense. I can change other settings and have them stay as set but not this one?  Glitch somewhere?

I noticed the same issue.  I have a new IPhone 4, downloaded the new iOS6 as well. The Hearing Aid Mode should stay on full time until such time it is switched off by the user. I plan to visit an Apple Store Friday afternoon and troubleshoot the issue. Hopefully Apple will fix the glitch sooner rather than later.

I just came back from an Apple Store. It turned out to be a carrier issue. Carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile have GSM software which has the capability to capture and utlize the hearing aid mode within IPhones. Therefore, the hearing aid mode will stay in the "on" mode and be of use to the user.  However, I have Verizon as my carrier and the signal that they push out will not capture the IPhone's hearing aid mode and therefore, it keeps switching back to "off" mode. I am going to visit a Verizon Store soon and find out what they can do as a patch to fix this issue.  I don't like it when I have $400 IPhone and I can't use a feature that is very important to me because of who my carrier is.

Ah. I wondered what the problem was. I will also visit a Verizon store and will report what I found out. Annoying.

Guess what? I went to the Verizon store and they claim it is Apple's software. And as posted above, Apple claims it is a Verizon problem. Sigh----time to trade the iphone4 in, on an Anddroid phone?

Hi, I am a hearing aid user also who updated to iOS 6 and I have an iphone4.  I am having the same issue that you are experiencing as well.  However, I found that when testing my t-coil, I was still able to hear.  Perhaps, with the iOS 6, the hearing aid compatibility is automatically turned on and doesn't need to be enabled in settings to do so?

I would also like to mention that I tried my father's phone.  He doesn't wear hearing aids but like me he is running an iOS 6 on an iphone 4.  I was not able to keep his hearing aid mode switched on either but it worked fine with my t-coil.  I had the mics on my hearing aids switched off and was able to pick up the signal.

I think it is a glitch in the softwear.
