When I start up my Mac I often get a screeful of what looks like linix code. This started when I upgraded to Mountain Lion. If I power down and restart the machine I generally get a normal start. However, I would like to correct this annoyance. Can you help? Thanks in advance, David in Scotland

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

Type reboot at the prompt and press return.

It seems you found the Solved button, thanks... but I want to be sure the issue is solved. The reboot command I gave you, you should only need to use once. It shouldn't startup in Single User Mode or Verbose Modeunless you hold the s key or the v key during boot.


So from now on, your Mac should startup normally. If this isn't happening, something is wrong and you should try these troubleshooting steps, or bring your Mac into an Apple Store.
