Anyone still having IOS 6 wifi issues?

I'm currently waiting on Apple support to call me back about this issue, but I thought I would reach out here to see if anyone else is having similar issues.

I upgraded to IOS 6 yesterday afternoon, and immediately after I could no longer connect to the Wifi at my place of employment. Everyone had this issue, no big deal.

Went home, Wifi worked fine.

Came into work this morning and I am still unable to connect. I have tried all of the various recommended fixes, and even gone so far as to do a complete restore. I work at a university with multiple networks and access points and have tried connecting to several, both secure and unsecure, with no luck.

This is what happens:

Unsecure Networks: Attempt to connect, wheel spins, Error Message: "Unable to Connect"

Secure Network: Attempt to connect, prompted for password, enter password, Error Message: "Incorrect Password" (Yes I entered the correct password, I tried multiple times, and the IT tech was able to connect to it with his iPad 2 running IOS 5)

I am also not the only one, everyone on campus who has upgraded their iPad 3 to IOS 6 is unable to connect. (All staff/factulty have iPads, most have upgraded)

I have spoken with the IT department and they are baffled, they have tried rebooting various routers and access points to no avail.

Obviously there is something different happening in IOS 6 that is causing these issues. My question is has anyone else encoutered this issue, and if so what have you done to fix it?

I have seen people above who have upgraded firmware on their personal wireless routers with success, but for a university with literally hundress of access points and routers this is out of the question, at least in the short term.

Yes very quiet. No public acknowledgement from Apple on the ios 6 wifi issues that I’ve found.

I would say this is a moment of truth.

They don’t even have the guts to admit a mistake was made or even to let us know they are working to correct it. How embarrassing…..

I’m sure if they had another wonder gadget to hawk they would be all over the front page.

Hmmmm. I'm having a dilemma here. I upgrade my iPhone 4 to iOS 6 and if I'm close to my router the signal indicator comes on and the phone connects to the wifi just fine, but if I step away from the router like 10 feet, my phone doesn't even find the signal. I also dropped my phone a few days before I did the software update so I'm not sure if the drop could have hurt something. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Apple - Fix this!!!!!!

Apple, THIS IS WHERE YOU NEED TO LOOK on iOS 6 regarding "WIFI Lockout"!!!!!!

When this happens (WIFI freezes up aka "WIFI Lockout") – you can not get on internet while using WIFI!!!!!

You could be in the middle of surfing or using any app that makes data calls based on DNS and suddenly you can go no where or do nothing!

Yea sure, you can restart the WIFI connection, but WHO wants to CONTINUALLY do that?????

Apple (or any curious iOS 6 user that wants to see my point), when this happens open up a browser before you reset, disconnect/reconnect WIFI ( I tried both safari and chrome ) and type type 74.125.227.144 (google) and then “go”. A google search page will come up and you will be able to execute a search. (of course any link you click on will not work as it is dependant on DNS resolution)

Non DNS traffic works so the issue is not the WIFI connection to the access point!

APPLE, FOCUS ON FIXING THIS DNS DATA ISSUE AND YOU WILL GET MANY PEOPLE OFF YOU BACK!!!!

I KNOW THIS IS NOT ALL OF THE PROBLEMS WITH iOS 6, BUT THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM NOT BEING ABLE TO SURF OR GET DATA THE iOS 6 DEVICE IS REQUESTING!!!!!

I've also been bitten with the wi-fi connection issues on my Verizon iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, and also my brand new MacBook air, and iPad 2! Fix this crap now or I'm done with Apple! This is going to cause me to use up my data because of not being able to use my home wifi. Does anyone know what's causing this or if there's a fix? I'm calling tomorrow to find out.

I'm having somewhat similar problem. Just realize it last night. My new iPad (3rd Generation, Wifi+Cellular) after updated to iOS 6 won't connect with my iPhone 4 & 4s wifi hotspot. But it works find through bluetooth hotspot. Then i try connecting my iPad to my laptop hotspot (using Connectify software for Windows 7), it works well thru WEP setting. But when I change to WPA2, my iPad able to detect it but wont connect. I think the bug got to do with WPA2 setting.

Come think of it, the day I've updated to iOS 6, my iPad need to reconnect to wifi everytime after it when to sleep. After waking up, it connect to the wifi normally but the internet connection just lost. I need to turn on and off my wifi in the iPad setting to get online. N some of the public wifis take longer time to connect (I mean a lot longer) compared to previous iOS. Now, I need to topup my internet prepaid and use more battery usage for 3G. I really need the wifi. A lot of my works depend heavily on iPad. Hope Apple fixs this quickly.

I will give you an update on where mine is at.

A recap of my problems first

  • Using my wifi at home for my ipad and iphone, I cannot connect to anything which requires me to sign into the itunes store. Can't get an app, a song, anything. I get error message, "cannot connect to itunes store"
  • Cannot do anything which requires loading a picture. Can't tweet a picture, can't email a picture, can't facebook a picture, can't look at my picture albums in facebook. It all times out, cannot connect to server as server is busy.
  • I can also not connect to the webpage apple.com.au "request timed out"
  • All of the above can be done on 3G or the apple store wifi or in a telstra shops wifi etc. The thing is, I have 100g of download on my home PC which I use the wifi off, I am NOT going to sit and use my prepaid 3G when I don't have to.. grrrrrrrr

So, I had a service call from Apple last night. They inform me my router/modem needs it's firmware updated. Meh, OK, so I will ring Telstra. (I am in Melbourne Australia)

I ring telstra, explain to them I need the router firmware updated as per apple request, (expecting a "this is not our problem, go back to apple"). They didn't have a clue what I was talking about. However, they said your modem is actually still under warranty. We will send you a brand spankin, up to date new one.

Brilliant!!! didn't expect that at all

I talk to my techo mate at work today, he is convinced once I get a new router it should all fix itself. (mind you, I had NFI what a router was, I said ummm I have a modem... yes you do he said but it's a router and modem in 1.. Ohhhh OK) lol.

Anyway, I am now waiting on telstra to send me the new, whatever it is. Once I install it, if it doesn't fix it.. then I am going back onto apples case BAD!!!!

I've never had any dramas with my wifi connection at all until this iOS 6 update.

I will keep you all updated once I install and test the new modem.
