    Add another person with a problem.


    iPhone 4s will not connect to my home router.  This is the first time it won't connect even after asking for the password.  Before it has just dropped the connection but now it is unable to connect to linksys.


    Everything else is working fine-laptops, Kindle, other iPhones-but not mine.


    It is picking it up at a wifi but will not accept the password-which is the correct password.

    I did a network reset which didn't work so I powered off the linksys and the router and did another reset.  First it didn't work but the second time it accepted the password and is working.

    This is constantly dropping though and it is getting worse.

    Your router is failing; it would be best to replace it at this time.

    I've not had problems at home with my Cisco router, however, I've noticed terrible connectivity at most Starbucks.  The other day I went to three Starbucks where I had such pathetic connection speeds that I shut off the wireless and used the cell connection.  I also was able to hop onto an open connection next door to one of the starbucks and it worked perfectly.

    Starbuck's routers and internet connection are being shared by everyone else in the store. Because of this don't expect much speed using their system.

    Ahhh, ok that makes sense.  I did a speed test and it was only 1 MB download which is laughable.

    I wish I had read these forums before I let it upgrade my iPad 3 to OS6. I just bought a refurbished one yesterday from Apple. I signed into our wireless network from my office at work, and let it download the 750+ meg upgrade, with no problems. I let it run through the upgrade, and now having the issue where it can't find a router unless it's almost on top of it.


    Sitting here at my desk and the company router is about 150 feet from me, through wooden walls & a ceiling, it  now can't see it at all. There is also one other company close by and their router is about 80 feet away, and it finds it, off & on.


    If I get up and walk from my office, closer to our router and get within about 100 feet, I can log in and work without a dropped connection for as long as I want. As soon as I get further away from the router, it drops and can't see it again.


    It did not have problem connecting to my old Linksys router at home and played with it for a good 2-3 hours last night and only dropped one time. I am only about 75 feet from it, however it is on a different floor in my house. Like others, every other device such as Laptops, Roku, iFit, etc, have no problems connecting to the my router at home.


    One other thing I just noticed in playing with it is took it out of this Snugg leather case I bought. Laying here on my desk, with it in the case & open, it can not find any wireless network around me, although when I look at my Laptop and iPhone 4S (still on OS 5), it sees five different wireless routers in range. If I take it out of the case and lay it in the same spot, it does find the other company's router fairly consistently, but still not ours. The case does seem to be causing some of an issue, although taking it out, still is not solving the issue.


    Reminds me of a problem we had with two new Dell laptops we bought a couple of years ago. Always had a weak signal to the wireless router at home & dropped a lot until they released a fix for the wirless card. Never had an issue after that.


    Have not been able to play with it away from workl yet, beyond taking it home last night.

    An interesting diagnosis and recommendation given the previous comment that "Everything else is working fine".


    Is this advice because the 'device reset' failed on the first attempt?

         We have been your loyal customers, some of us for over a decade! I demand a fix "pronto" to this issue. This more that an "entretainment-oriented device", at least for me, is a work too. When I upgraded from my iphone 4S to the new iphone was to have a better product and experience, which I haven't find  yet!


         We need a date to know when are you planning to upgrade the software and fix this problem! or at least tell us you have acknowledge the problem and you are working on it!

    Ancient1: JimHDk  comments are probably sound as ive seen his around as much as mine since the early stages of these WiFi Dramas.


    Bottom line is for your case having an Iphone 4S and upgrade from IOS5 to IOS 6 then finding you have WiFi connectivity issues AND it was fine before, well you are know screw*d like most here.


    If possible, though dont know if it is, get the phone back to IOS5




    Tweak your Wireless Access Point, Router or whatever you're personally using to see if you can make adjustments to make it more compatible. Need to speak to your Product Vendor for support if you dont know how. you might be required to downgrade (not commended) or upgrade firmware to get it working again


    As for WiFi issues "outside" as in hotels, out in the streets for hotspots, companies etc and you're now having WiFi issues, well goodluck is the best i can offer.


    The other option on a personal note, take you're chances and buy a new WAP Device / Router whatever you're using


    Shame the basic principle of "If its not broken, dont fix it" was applied before they made what ever changes it was in the IOS 6 upgrade that has caused al these dramas

    So I've been on this forum for a few weeks now, with several posts and no success. Note that before I upgraded to iOS 6/6.0.1, I did not have ANY wifi issues whatsoever on any of my devices. Today I went out and bought a new wireless router (Belkin N450 DB) to replace my relatively new D-Link DIR-601 that I've been having trouble with at home. Currently running on the new Belkin router I have my iPad 2 (64 gig wifi only) and my iPhone 4S as well as my MacBook Pro are all running great! I have much better reception on my iPad 2 which is the device I've had the most trouble with. My iPhone 4S was having all the same problems as my iPad when I first updated to iOS6, but over time has seemed to remedy itself - which is weird - same goes for my wife's iPhone 4S. As for my iPad 2, I can't say whether the new improvement is just that the new router I have is more powerfull with 5 ghz broadcast, or that some protocol is different and it is now compatible?? I went through EVERY step on my D-Link, including changing channels, turning security off, updating firmware, logging in manually from my iPad, and nothing at all worked. D-Link told me, after several tech support calls "it sounds like the problem you are having is an Apple software-related issue". I also had a 2 hr tech call with Apple, and all the (very nice and seemingly really trying to help) senior tech representative could say was, "well if the full restore doesn't work (which it didn't), just call back and we'll get you taken care of". I'm not sure what that meant, but I did the restore, called back and left a message, and have yet to hear back from her... ARGH.


    For now, this fix will most definitely not solve my problem if I would like to use my iPad outside my home network, but at least for now, it's not just a paperweight. 


    I'm a longtime Apple owner, and couldn't imagine giving up on Apple over this issue, but it has been VERY frustrating. Good luck everyone!!

    I too had problems with wifi after the iOS 6 upgrade,, with my home network constantly dropping on my ipad.  The 6.0.1 update helped a little, but it still kept dropping.  I would renew the lease in the ipad network settings, and it would come back.  I saw a post somewhere about setting your home network to 300 Mbps on a DLink router.  I have a Cisco/Linksys dual band router, and last Wednesday I set the 5GHz band to n only, and kept the 2.4GHz band on auto (I still have a few g devices).  It's almost a week, and I even played Pandora all day Thanksgiving.  Not a single drop in the network.  Doesn't help when I'm on wifi outside my home, but at least it's working fine at home now.

    I have a fairly new iPad 2 that used to work perfectly before the upgrade to iOS 6. After the upgrade, I spent several days just trying to get wireless to work. Now, the wireless works, but drops out after a few minutes. To update mail, apps, etc., I have to turn off wireless for a few seconds, then turn it back on, then start the update. If I'm lucky, everything will load before the wireless drops out again; usually, however, I have to disconnect and reconnect a few times. I was hoping that the 6.0.1 update would fix the problem, but no such luck.


    This is getting very old, Apple. I work for a large university and can't fiddle with the router settings. Furthermore, I shouldn't have to. Please fix this.

    Agreed. How 'interesting' to see that a company as Apple can be so arrogant ignoring this major issue. After reading all postings the conclusion is that iOS 6 causes serious wifiproblems on both Apple equipment (not only old) on both iPads and iPhones.


    Yesterday, I installed iOS 6 on my wifes iPhone 4s. We did not install before because of the problems, but I wanted a plain experiment. Right after installing, with NOTHING changed on routers, airport express, airport extreme and whatever, wifi connection via the airports disappeared. Only possible wificonnection was directly to the router.

    So it is clearly due to iOS in combination with Apple's own hardware!


    Apple, ifyou treat your customers like this, ignoring their needs and not responding, you will definitely will loose lots of credits. I have been an satisfied Apple user for many years - and both at home and at my own business using lots of Apple devices and hardware - I am losingmy faith in integrity and quality of the company. Of course, mistakes can be made, but Apple: COMMUNICATE!

    I have iPhone 5 and Retina Macbook Pro. But I'm buying Google Nexus 4 and giving this iPhone 5 to my sister. My next phones won't be iPhone anymore.
