    On ipad3.. After update ios6 my home button not funtion like before..some time can use..try restart and boot  ok for a few time..after that like suck..wifi some time need to restart,cant connet...update to ios6.0.1 some apps cant use.. It batter if can back to ios5..

    I was still having issues with Wifi dropping off then not allowing me to reconnect.

    My better half discovered that if he turned off the MAC filtering on the router the problem went away.

    So it looks like IOS is either failing to broadcast the MAC address or it is broadcasting the wrong MAC address.

    Did IOS6 come with a random MAC generator?


    I have tested this work around sucessfully over a few days, then we turned the MAC filtering back on, on the router & the issue returned after a few minutes of wifi use.

    Switching to Airplane mode worked about 50% of the time, or I had to reboot the iPad to get the piece of crap to connect to WiFi again


    APPLE Why do we have to lower our router security to allow IOS6 to connect?

    Please step up, take responsibility & clean up the mess you've created.

    Let us rollback to Ios5 until you get this sorted or put out an update for IOS6 that covers the iPad2.

    Apple Test your updates before you push them onto us.

    iOS transmits the WiFi hardware MAC address correctly and it is the hardware address found at Settings -> General -> About -> WiFi Address. If MAC address filtering is causing problems then the most likely explanation is the the iPad MAC address was either not added to the router list of accepted MAC addresses or was entered incorrectly.


    It's clear that there is something wrong with the MAC address configuration on your router.

    This is nonsense; WiFi is governed by an International standard (IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/h). You have to conform to those standards to be certified by the WiFi Alliance. Apple nor any other vendor can arbitrarily change the standard.


    Good to know that we have REAL experts in the forum.

    If the implementation in IOS6 would follow

    please explain why it does not work with all major vendors and even apple's own equipment???

    My wifi never gave me trouble connecting, but using my 4s since iOS 6 has been a major PITA with it going in and out intermittently regardless of which network I'm on. Between work, home and at my in-laws I'll show I'm connected but get network connection error messages while using apps and my browser will stop opening pages, saying there's no connection. I was grandfathered in with AT&T's unlimited data plan, so shouldn't I be covered regardless? My 3GS (which I haven't upgraded) has no trouble connecting at any of the locations where I have issues using my new one. My daughter basically uses it as an iPod and to connect to YouTube. I had upgraded to my 4s for more memory, but what's the point when I want to throw it across the room multiple times a week. I never had a complaint about the iPhone til this issue came up. This was my third upgrade and is disappointing.

    I'm having a similar but yet unique problem with my GSM/Wifi iPad 3.

    First, it worked just fine then I updated to IOS 6, it stopped connecting to wifi, wherever I was (was in London, Paris, Rome, and home) The cellular data works just fine.


    Now, I could look at all the available wifi on the list but always get the "unable to connect" whenever trying to connect to a wifi (did all the suggestions and fixes, no success.)

    Then few days ago, I put my iPad next to my router at home and it magically connects! Just like normal, but with slower speed. I have to put my iPad within 10 cm of the router to make it works. Weird I know, but I tried this method to other wifi spot and it works.


    My iPad was fine before iOS 6, and turned out to be like this after the update... I wonder if anybody else's having similar problem and hopefully a solution, and god ****, please apple give us a fix!

    Try Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset network settings

    Sounds like a hardware problem possibly with the antenna.

    The thing is, I was using my wifi perfectly while downloading IOS 6 update. It happened right after I installed the IOS 6. This is why I believe it's not a hardware problem (hopefully, though I'm kinda sure of it)

    I have a 3 and could not connect automatically to my wifi, long story short, I had to rename my router, it's a netgear 150


    After that auto connect works perfect.

    I'm having the same issue with a Netgear Router.  My laptop and Droid phone connect with no problems at all.  My iPad 3, iPhone 5 and iPhone 4 all won't connect.  What gives Apple as this has been a low profile issue for months!!!???

    I've had it with Apple. Nothing but problems with my new Ipad. Sometimes I get so frustrated, I feel like stomping on it. Apple is not the company it used to be, so sad.

    Probably because it is a relatively minor issue.  Most of my family members have wireless routers and iPhone/iPads.  None of them are having wireless connection issues with iOS6--none of them.  I have several friends in the same situation and none of them are having Wi-Fi connection issues, either.  My only Wi-Fi issue with iOS6 (as stated elsewhere within this thread) is the spontaneous fall back to using cell data when I still have a strong Wi-Fi signal.  If I turn off cell data I do not get a disconnect, the Wi-Fi connection continues merrily along.


    Of course, with the number of sales of iOS devices that have occured even a relatively minor issue will affect tens of thousands of users and Apple should do something about it relatively quickly.  The fact that it has existed since the first appearance of iOS 6, is encountered by a relatively small number of users, and still persists for most of them (as least a far as one can tell from this thread) tells me it isn't a simple fix.


    Hopefully Apple will find a solution shortly, but I've dealt with sporadic issues in complex systems before so I'm not holding my breath while I wait.
