Q: Anyone still having IOS 6 wifi issues?

I'm currently waiting on Apple support to call me back about this issue, but I thought I would reach out here to see if anyone else is having similar issues.

I upgraded to IOS 6 yesterday afternoon, and immediately after I could no longer connect to the Wifi at my place of employment.  Everyone had this issue, no big deal.

Went home, Wifi worked fine.

Came into work this morning and I am still unable to connect. I have tried all of the various recommended fixes, and even gone so far as to do a complete restore.   I work at a university with multiple networks and access points and have tried connecting to several, both secure and unsecure, with no luck.

This is what happens:

Unsecure Networks: Attempt to connect, wheel spins, Error Message: "Unable to Connect"

Secure Network: Attempt to connect, prompted for password, enter password, Error Message: "Incorrect Password"  (Yes I entered the correct password, I tried multiple times, and the IT tech was able to connect to it with his iPad 2 running IOS 5)

I am also not the only one, everyone on campus who has upgraded their iPad 3 to IOS 6 is unable to connect. (All staff/factulty have iPads, most have upgraded)

I have spoken with the IT department and they are baffled, they have tried rebooting various routers and access points to no avail.

Obviously there is something different happening in IOS 6 that is causing these issues.  My question is has anyone else encoutered this issue, and if so what have you done to fix it?

I have seen people above who have upgraded firmware on their personal wireless routers with success, but for a university with literally hundress of access points and routers this is out of the question, at least in the short term.

Also My Ipad2 cannot connect to wireless networks.

First time the network was visible but quite fast I've lost the lost the connection and iPad cannot see it again. The only chance was to rename it, reset al lnetwork settings.

It seems that after Apple solved the issue with deleted page for checking wireless connection wireless networks are visible but still I cannot connect to them.

On Asus RT-G32 I can reconnect from time to time but on Hama 300 (draft n) no chance.

The problem should be an incompatibility between iOS6 and draft n and older protocols.

under iOS5xx there was no problem to connect to the same wireless routers.

Nice job Apple! an Ipad w/o internet connection.

Did resetting all network settings and rename the router fix the problem?  Someone suggested changing the channel.  Haven't tried it yet, but was wondering if anything you did fixed the problem or are you still having the problem.  We've got an 'n' band router that worked perfectly with iOS5xx.

I went to Verizon yesterday as I lost Bluetooth connectivity about a week ago. The guy said to update to ios6 via wifi. But then I realized that my IPhone 4s  couldn't connect to any wifi!!!! But I updated to ios6 thru my computer and now have NO wifi AND no Bluetooth ...what next?.. .? But my old friend, IPad #1 works fine with wifi, etc. plan to go back to verizon but am tempted to wait to see if apple comes up with a fix. Does anyone else have Bluetooth headset issues too?

    Yeah.

The goal is to somehow get to your third party site and login before the device does the self test.

i Live in UK, Scotland.  I am virgin media.  Girlefriend is Sky.  and i bought iphone 5 friday. find my wifi no problem and connects but does not recieve internet connection.  i do have full wifi signal on my iphone5 at all times.

i have reset network settings,  put it onto auto, changed to various channels on router including auto, reset iphone 5 to factory settings, hard reboot, soft reboot,  changed router name and pass.  NOTHING works. what a joke imo.

the best ive achieved is limited connection time of about 5 seconds then no connection.

FOR THOSE WHO ARE UK VIRGIN MEDIA CUSTOMERS AND HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING TRY THIS...

i went into my router settings 192.168.0.1

    wifi network settings

    security mode

i was set to WPA Auto

    I CHANGED IT TO 'DISABLE'

and behold... internet connection works with WIFI

    i hope this helps

i assume other routers can disable thier security settings too but once ios5 fixes are made... change back to origonal settings.

This is plainly a serious global issue that Apple is trying to pretend doesn't exist!  While there seem to be different variants for different people, it's obvious that people that had no WiFi problem before the iOS6 upgrade,. and who changed noting else, now can't connect to their WiFi network.

So Mr Cook, what are you going to do about this and when?  Steve Jobs would be turning in his grave to see what a mess you have presided over.

Who wants to join me in a class action to shake these arrogant people out of their world's richest company is above the law syndrome?

    Possible SOLUTION.

Change wireless IP to default value. 192.168.1.1 instead of any other more secure value.

At least iPad now reconnect automatically.

Had the same issue. Router set to WPA/WPA2 mixed mode. Channel auto, so I don't know what channel I was actually on. Switching to channel 11 fixed the issue. Unfortunately my wifi at work doesn't work either and I have no control over channel. Clearly iOS6 has trouble accessing wifi channels it didn't have problems with previously.

Edit: Iphones and the ipad that weren't upgraded and laptops using wifi can still connect to both home and work wifi, so clearly an iOS update issue and not a problem with either wifi router.

FYI, changing your security mode to disable means your data is unencrypted and everyone who lives near you could listen in to your unenecrypted wifi traffic. Passwords, etc. are sent 'in the clear' on any sites that don't use httpS (ssl).

I have a workaround that certainly works for all Netgear equipment and I suspect others as well.  Much as I would like to share it with everyone, I have spent too many infuriating ghours to give it to Apple free of charge so when they pay for my lost time I'll give it to them and they can fix the bug as well as tell everyone the workaround.

Their handling of this, like iCloud synchronisation problems, is just appalling!  Steve Jobs would not have tolerated this so why does Tim Cook?

Spoke to Apple Support.  They said that bouncing the router has solved the issue 95% of the time.  I am thrilled to report that bouncing our router solved the problem.  All the devices connect.  Wish I didn't clear my network settings until I had tried bouncing the router.  Glad it works--my faith is restored.

exactly the same issue for me.

Our IT department rolled back the firmware on the WAPs and everyone was able to get on.

I know this does not immediately help you as the scope of what needs to be done must be massive, but it is all that has worked for me. Incidentally i did try just about every method listed on these forums but with no luck.

I did pass on the info i had to apple techs in the hope it may do some greater good.

Final thing, and i don't know how relevant this is, but the WAPs at work are all netgear

95% is a nice success rate.  "Bouncing the router" how to?  I am a novice.
