Q: Anyone still having IOS 6 wifi issues?

I'm currently waiting on Apple support to call me back about this issue, but I thought I would reach out here to see if anyone else is having similar issues.

I upgraded to IOS 6 yesterday afternoon, and immediately after I could no longer connect to the Wifi at my place of employment.  Everyone had this issue, no big deal.

Went home, Wifi worked fine.

Came into work this morning and I am still unable to connect. I have tried all of the various recommended fixes, and even gone so far as to do a complete restore.   I work at a university with multiple networks and access points and have tried connecting to several, both secure and unsecure, with no luck.

This is what happens:

Unsecure Networks: Attempt to connect, wheel spins, Error Message: "Unable to Connect"

Secure Network: Attempt to connect, prompted for password, enter password, Error Message: "Incorrect Password"  (Yes I entered the correct password, I tried multiple times, and the IT tech was able to connect to it with his iPad 2 running IOS 5)

I am also not the only one, everyone on campus who has upgraded their iPad 3 to IOS 6 is unable to connect. (All staff/factulty have iPads, most have upgraded)

I have spoken with the IT department and they are baffled, they have tried rebooting various routers and access points to no avail.

Obviously there is something different happening in IOS 6 that is causing these issues.  My question is has anyone else encoutered this issue, and if so what have you done to fix it?

I have seen people above who have upgraded firmware on their personal wireless routers with success, but for a university with literally hundress of access points and routers this is out of the question, at least in the short term.

    IOS 6 WIFI FIX FOR NOW!!!!!

    The only quick fix for now is to reset your Network

    Setting/General/Reset/Reset Nettwork Settings

    Make sure you copy your password somewhere. I did so on  Notes so that i could copy and paste.

    This will work for a while but the problem keeps coming back in a day or so but at least its a quick fix.

    I have the problem on both my Iphone and Ipad 3 with IOS 6

    The only other permanent fix is to go back to IOS 5 which I had back when I tried IOS 6 bata and had the same problem which I thought Applw would have Fixed.

    Apple better get there act together or Android is going to Kick there *** SOON!

    IOS5 had a solid connection.

    1.  Has Apple acknowledged the problem?

    I have been struggling with wifi connectivity issues on my ipad2 and iPhone4s since upgrading to IOS6. Today I decided to see if others had issues and am blown away by the treads over the past few days.

    My wifi network has an AirPort Extreme (4th gen) at its base and is extended by a number of Airport Expresses (most are 1st gen but one is 2nd gen).

    Security is WPA/WPA2 Personal;

    SSID is broadcast;

    broadcast on 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz;

    latest firmware (7.6.1 for Extreme and 1st gen Express and 7.6.2 for the 2nd gen Express) installed since release;

    all wifi access points have fixed IP addresses;

    all iPads, iPhones, MacBooks, iMacs have fixed IP addresses;

    all shared printers have fixed IP addresses;

    connected media devices have fixed IP addresses;

    transient devices (visitors phones or laptops) use DHCP;

    all devices have cold started within past 24 hours.

    IOS5 iPad and iPhone have no issue.

    Computers have no issue.

    iPads and iPhones on IOS6 see and connect to the wifi access points reasonably reliably but not as good as IOS5.

    IOS6 devices show issues connecting to the Internet-

    Loading pages starts then sits with spinner for an excessive time trying to load the whole page. The blue line starts then stops and lags. Can take minutes to lad the Apple (Aus) home page.

    In flight updates lag. If the app needs to refresh data while running noticeable/extended lag is present.

    Lag can lead to page load failure.

    Problem is variable. That is, always there but may be different lag times.

    I have not yet been able to establish a pattern. (Sorry).

    No, there has been no word from Apple as to the wifi problems. We are on are own for now. Apple has dropped the ball and like other great company's we have been left to suffer for it. I have only wondered why some of us have the problem and not others? My nabour like me has an iPhone 4 on the Rogers network and upgraded to iOS 6 the same day and time, (it was planned), and I have the same problem we all have and he has nothing! If only there where someone with a time machine!

    Again:

    Apple with Steve Jobs :)

    Apple with out Steve Jobs :(

    As the days go by Samsung is looking better and better.

    Memo to all Posters:

      Do not upgrade iOS 6.1.1 or any other iOS software for no less then 3 months or proof of software has been checked for problems/bugs/glitches/ or any other software problems.

    In closing:

      Bad Apple, very bad Apple! Very disappointed in you!

    Thank you

    No, resetting the network doesn't work for everyone. I tried that multiple times. What did work was unplugging my Gateway. Even to get that far took an Apple Care supervisor after I had tried everything else, including dealing with an AC rep who couldn't get it fixed in half an hour.

    Cjmedina,  the Dreynt FIX is PERMANENT.   No more extra work.

    For some unknown reason,  the Apple devices are doing ERRORS on my router log.   This is the cause it get´s the wifi on  slower than before.

    With Static Ip Address, Now Wifi is fast and ready to go.

    My iPad2 and iPhone4S already had static IP addresses but is decided to blow them away from the network and set them up again.

    Went into setting and told them to 'forget this network'; turned off wifi; shut down device; left it for 10 minutes to make sure it was stopped; restart (with home button and power button); once started - turned wifi back on; attached to home wifi again; entered passcode.

    When I rechecked the status, yes the IP address was still my router defined static address, everything looked normal.

    After 10 minutes of running it would seem the wifi is working better at present. will keep an eye on it and see how it holds up.

    Significantly, I had previously reset the wifi connection without the reboot in the past 2 days with no benefit.

    This upgrade will be remembered as the first step of Apple to Doom ! Now Steve Ballmer is not alone as the most ridiculous CEO, Tim Cook toes the line with good odds to replace him.

    TEMPORARY FIX FOR IOS 6 WIFI LOSS ON IPAD 3

    My situation: iPad 3 upgraded to IOS 6, now unable to maintain WiFi connection to home access point, already using statically assigned IP address, also connecting iPad via HTTP Proxy. This temporary fix worked for me, so might work for you if you're in the same situation.

    1. Change HTTP Proxy settings on the iPad: Go into Settings, then into WiFi, then into your WiFi connection (press blue circle). Then go down to the bottom of the screen and set HTTP Proxy to "Auto".

    2. Your iPad now needs a direct connection to the Internet. So if your using an HTTP Proxy, re-configure it (if its in-line) and/or your firewall to allow all your essential iPad apps to connect through to the Internet. Essential protocols for getting me connected were: ports 123 (time), 53 (dns), 80 (web http), 443 (web https), 465 (secure smtp email), 993 (secure imap email). YMMV, depending on your "essential" apps.

    Obviously once the proper fix to IOS 6 is out (hopefully soon) you can return to your normal settings.

    My iPad is under waranty, so I could take it back, but as far as I know there has been no hardware revision and its the latest model, so I have no confidence that a "new replacement" would work any different once I got it home and tried to set it up. Its clearly a software bug in IOS 6.

    Apple: shame on you. Next time you brag about "100s of new features", please tell us which ones have actually been tested so we can make an informed choice about whether or not to screw up our devices by "upgrading".

    I have the iPad 3 and I've had problems connecting to the wifi at home since I upgraded to ios6 last week.  I just keep getting messages saying it's "unable to join the network". I am really fed up with it as my iPad is wifi only and without a connection it's not very useful!!!! Sometimes it connects but there doesn't seem to be any logic or pattern to it, I can be sitting in the same room having made numerous unsuccessful attempts to connect and then suddenly it works.  Didn't have any problems at all with wifi prior to ios6.  I have no intention of installing it on my iPhone! Also not impressed with changes to maps.

    I lost my iPad 3 Wifi connection twice since iOS 6.0 was released.  It only happened after I turned the iPad completely off.  The first time I quickly reconnected.  The second time took me nearly 20 minutes after I tried every trick suggested in this thread.  I found the only approach that worked was reseting the router. Reseting iPad network setting didn't work and changing TKIP setting doesn't seem to be it either. I hope it is at least a partitial solution if Wifi is gone again.

    Everything seemed normal now.  I've got a feeling that we should be witnessing a big slide of Apple stock price as more and more people get to realize that the Jobs-less Apple isn't exactly Apple anymore.

    This is NOT fixed and I am getting pretty po'ed as as my data limit has been exceeded on the affected device.

    I upgraded an iPhone4, ipad2, itouch4 and iphone 4s to iOS6 all within an hour of each other on Sept 21. The ipad2 was seamless.  The iTouch and iPhone 4 would not connect to home wifi initially but I did network restore and voila, fixed instantly.  As for the iPhone 4S?  NOTHING has worked!  I have tried every suggestion that I have seen online  - including a full rese and restore and it still will not connect to home or any wifi.  The wifi button is greyed out and cannot be activated.

    Way to go Apple!

    I've had the same problems as everyone else.

    Ever since upgrading to ios 6 , both of my iphone 4's and my wife's ipad2 would get intermittent wifi.

    My son's 3GS (which we did not upgrade) and my iPad 1 never experienced any of the issues (both running iOS 5)

    Here is a recording I made of my wife's iPad2 (iOS 6) dropping the wifi signal 5-6 times in the span of 30 seconds.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybIZrbyr9JQ&feature=plcp

    Oddly, ever since I upgraded my Mac Mini to 10.8.2, it also has exhibited the same behaviour.

    I was lucky enough to have a new Airport Express that I had purchased a month or two back to act as a repeater (which I never ended up doing).  I replaced my cable router with the Airport Express and now all the devices work fine.  However, there is defintely an issue with connecting to certain routers.
