Q: Anyone still having IOS 6 wifi issues?

I'm currently waiting on Apple support to call me back about this issue, but I thought I would reach out here to see if anyone else is having similar issues.

I upgraded to IOS 6 yesterday afternoon, and immediately after I could no longer connect to the Wifi at my place of employment.  Everyone had this issue, no big deal.

Went home, Wifi worked fine.

Came into work this morning and I am still unable to connect. I have tried all of the various recommended fixes, and even gone so far as to do a complete restore.   I work at a university with multiple networks and access points and have tried connecting to several, both secure and unsecure, with no luck.

This is what happens:

Unsecure Networks: Attempt to connect, wheel spins, Error Message: "Unable to Connect"

Secure Network: Attempt to connect, prompted for password, enter password, Error Message: "Incorrect Password"  (Yes I entered the correct password, I tried multiple times, and the IT tech was able to connect to it with his iPad 2 running IOS 5)

I am also not the only one, everyone on campus who has upgraded their iPad 3 to IOS 6 is unable to connect. (All staff/factulty have iPads, most have upgraded)

I have spoken with the IT department and they are baffled, they have tried rebooting various routers and access points to no avail.

Obviously there is something different happening in IOS 6 that is causing these issues.  My question is has anyone else encoutered this issue, and if so what have you done to fix it?

I have seen people above who have upgraded firmware on their personal wireless routers with success, but for a university with literally hundress of access points and routers this is out of the question, at least in the short term.

Kind of the same for me : updated to iOS6 my iPad3 won't connect anymore through my old and faithfull Belkin F5D8533-4 wifi router. Firmware up to date, settings as recommanded by Apple (though anyway no alternative settings regarding any option will work better...). My iMac is doing fine on wifi. The iPad will only allow acces to IPs, but won.t resolve anydomain names through any DNS i could access... Now as I switch back to the wifi on my ISPs box, everything works fine. only it's a lame 811g wifi box, with ridiculous speed and range...

If that's the only issue I'm willing to change my acces point. But it's not clear wether this will help that much in the medium term, nor which access point really is working with iOS6...

I upgraded my iPhone 4 to iOS 6 the day the upgrade went live. The wi-fi was working good until tonight when it just suddenly dropped. When I tried to reconnect, it just keep searching but nothing shows up. My new iPad that is on iOS 6 too is just working fine in the same home wifi. It's really frustrating that I have to rely now on my data on my iphone. Fix it apple! (Please)

You'd be better off starting a new thread specific to your problem rather than tacking it on to a very long thread that won't be read by people who might be able to help.

Have you checked for a firmware update to your Buffalo router (regardless of whether some other devices continue to run with it)?

Buffalo has a firmware page at: http://www.buffalotech.com/support-and-downloads/downloads

There is also a Buffalo wireless forum at: http://forums.buffalotech.com/t5/Wireless/bd-p/0102 Note that queries made to that forum should be detailed descriptions and include the model number and other details of your router.

I dont undrstnad why we are talking about downgrading router firmware. My IT deparment will not do that and I do not blame them. We have the latest firmware and I have tried all this turning off back on, wiping network settings, turning off the proxy and dancing around like an idiot.

We have Netgear WAG102 access points but my netgear router at home connects fine.

My iPad 3 (WIFI Only) Used to connect with no problems but now keeps coming up with "Unable to join network" We also have 2 x iPhone 4s' and these have the same issue. This HAS to be a bug in the iOS and not the routers. When will apple accept this and fix it?

This has been going on to long now.

I now have a nice looking picture frame when I am at work!!

According to reports Netgear introduced a bug in the most recent firmware levels for the WAG102 (2.0.16). Hey, it happens! A previous firmware level (2.0.7)  does not have this bug. Netgear has made this older firmware level available to correct this problem. If your IT department chooses to run their access points with incorrect firmware then that shows a lack of concern for their customer (which is you).

Your speculation, "This HAS to be a bug in the iOS and not the routers. When will apple accept this and fix it?" isn't true. Don't look for any solution from Apple for a Netgear foul-up. Pester your IT guys for a solution.

I am on iPhone 5 #2 and am STILL having wifi issues.  I spent most of Saturday with the Apple Genius folk (after having NO luck connecting to wifi) and got a replacement phone.  Before I backed it up to my previous phone, I simply tried to access wi-fi on known networks around town.  Still no connection.  Believe me, I HAVE TRIED EACH AND EVERY SUGGESTION that I have read about on multiple forums and nothing has worked.

About to throw my phone out the window, or switch to a Samsung 3.

You got that right!  NOTHING works.  Nothing at all.

I've said before that I am no techie, but let's assume that you are correct and that it is a NetGear firmware problem.

Then should not Apple acknowledge the noise on here and elsewhere and state that iOS6.0 is blameless and that the solution lies with NetGear and their users? It would stop, or at least deflect, dissatisfaction away from Apple and give some direction to the various "fix" efforts on here and elsewhere.

Again, if you are correct, then why do so many on here cite problems with routers other than NetGear?

    Hello!

In my opinion this is no router problem. I have iPad 3, 2 x iPhone 4s and problems with wi-fi begins after upgrade to iOS 6.0. I search a lot of forums for solution and there is no one 100% solution for this problem - we must wait for Apple upgrade. But maybe this fix can help somebody (my connection works better after this, especially on iPad):

Wi-Fi Properties --> network's name blue right arrow --> change IP adress to STATIC

Now you must set network settings, this is depending on you network:

adress 192.168.1.100 (format 192.168.X.Y - Y must be outside automatic DHCP server adress range, try high numbers - 255 max, X - check you network)

    mask 255.255.255.0

router 192.168.1.1 (format 192.168.X.1 - check you network)

    DNS 192.168.1.1 (same as router)

Proxy HTTP AUTO --> http://hells.pl (this is example, I live iPoland, find proxy server close to you)

Well I finally broke down and downgraded the firmware on our NetGear WG102. Went one version back and now the problems are gone. Obviously, this is not a step I should have had to take, but (for someone with some technical proficiency) it wasn't hard.

I agree you should not have had to do that and it is great that it worked for you in that instance but what do you do when you are somewhere else trying to get an Internet connection.  I'm sorry that I upgraded my iPad3 to iOS 6.  I am currently traveling and have had issues trying to connect to wifi that is available and am thankful that I am able to use my cellular connection, which I also should not have to do.

This is an issue that Apple needs to address and I hope they do it soon.  I understand that the same issue is also occurring on the new iphone5 , so until they get it worked out I will stick with my Blackberry.
