Q: Anyone still having IOS 6 wifi issues?

I'm currently waiting on Apple support to call me back about this issue, but I thought I would reach out here to see if anyone else is having similar issues.

I upgraded to IOS 6 yesterday afternoon, and immediately after I could no longer connect to the Wifi at my place of employment.  Everyone had this issue, no big deal.

Went home, Wifi worked fine.

Came into work this morning and I am still unable to connect. I have tried all of the various recommended fixes, and even gone so far as to do a complete restore.   I work at a university with multiple networks and access points and have tried connecting to several, both secure and unsecure, with no luck.

This is what happens:

Unsecure Networks: Attempt to connect, wheel spins, Error Message: "Unable to Connect"

Secure Network: Attempt to connect, prompted for password, enter password, Error Message: "Incorrect Password"  (Yes I entered the correct password, I tried multiple times, and the IT tech was able to connect to it with his iPad 2 running IOS 5)

I am also not the only one, everyone on campus who has upgraded their iPad 3 to IOS 6 is unable to connect. (All staff/factulty have iPads, most have upgraded)

I have spoken with the IT department and they are baffled, they have tried rebooting various routers and access points to no avail.

Obviously there is something different happening in IOS 6 that is causing these issues.  My question is has anyone else encoutered this issue, and if so what have you done to fix it?

I have seen people above who have upgraded firmware on their personal wireless routers with success, but for a university with literally hundress of access points and routers this is out of the question, at least in the short term.

I wish Apple supported going back a version.  ios6 is awful on my iPhone 4.  I have to reboot it every couple of days because the wifi becomes very flaky.

I'll realize that network operations are getting really slow.  I'll go into Speed Test and sometimes the initial pings won't happen, but most often the download test just stops partway through.

I'll reboot the phone and everything is back to normal for a day or two.

I'm connecting through a non-broadcasting Netgear with WPA2 and AES.

Yes, an intermittent problem, bloody sick of it.  There are 2 iPad 2's in the house, one WiFi one 3G.  The machines are seen intermittently by iTunes over my 3G network.  It's a major PITA!  And all since the update to iOS 6 and the newer version of iTunes.  Clearly a software issue, it didn't happen with the previous version of iOS and the number of complaints/feedback on this site and over the web is a sure indication that there's something wrong.  Where's Apple's feedback????

Yes, I have to manually log into my networks every time I change locations.  I haven't gotten any notifications from my cell carrier yet, but I assume this means I'm using more cellular data.

I've wasted over half a day just getting my phone to work the way I like it in this new iOS6, nd I still have technical issues.  How exactly is this supposed to be an upgrade?

i always thought highly about Apple product that made me bought my first iPad, and immediately excited that there was a software update, that was supposed to be cool. who am i kidding?? I've never had this much frustration with ANY of electronic device ever. Spent countless hours with Support, Genius blamed my router not admiting there's any such WIFI issue, they managed to screw up my name on my replacement order, cancelled and reissued my order without notification. Kept telling me to wait nicely, someone will call, guess what I got email, and not a single phone call. I called the retail store 3 times, and 3 times they promised to call me back.. and never did. Great job Apple. You managed to beat PC indeed. bravo.

I'm having huge WiFi and BT issues after performing a "Reset all Settings" today to try and get a handle on the 4S battery drain issue.

Now my 4S won't recognize my previously paired BT, won't pair up fresh, and won't connect to my secured WiFi network here at home - I keep getting an incorrect password dialog.  The 4S was happily working with both BT and this WiFi network under iOS6 ever since release day... until I did the ^%E@^ reset.  If I turn off WiFi security I can connect, but that's no solution.

    I am not pleased.

    Dave in Atlanta...

Same issues reported.  Well two issues, both WiFi related.

FIRST: My iPad 3 on iOS 5, WiFi and 3G, drops wifi periodically throughout day.  Known issue with BS "fix" being shut down, restart and pray.  wife's iPad 3 with Wifi only never an issue.   Since day one. No solution.

NOW:  (the nightmare). I foolishly upgrade to iOS 6.  As noted as naseum across this forum and Web, WiFi drops every couple minutes.  Tried the nonsense fixes making the rounds (turn up brightness, change proxy setting, etc.).  Nothing works.  Wife's iPad 3 on iOS 5, no issue whatsoever.

For ***** sake Apple.  Apparently geniuses unaware, whole web buzzing and nothing fro you?  Can't revert / downgrade, stuck, ******, and unable to do, well, much of anything on this now expensive toy.

Please, for love of gawd, get on it.

What you describe is exactly what I encountered since upgrading to iOS 6.

I hope apple will fix it soon!!

We have 13 iPhones in my office that haven't been able to connect to the WiFi at work since the "upgrade". Call me a conspiracy quack, but does anyone else think Apple made a deal with AT&T to run up our cell data usage?

I executed the IOS 6.0 software upgrade last night on my iPad.  I get a message that the update was successful but there are a few more steps.  One of the steps requires entering your e-mail address.  When I do this, I get a message that I am unable to connect to the server.  My options are to start over or retry.  Both paths get me to the same point.  I have tried a complete shutdown but this does not help.  I cannot even get to the home page on my iPad to access settings.  Right now I am unable to use my iPad in any way.  Can't even get to my Kindle app to read books offline.  Anyone else have this installation problem?

    Hi Ken,

Sadly this is not just an iPad thread - it affects iPhone 4, 4S, 5 and maybe even 3 (I've lost track of the 500+ posts).  We are all just waiting for Apple to (a) acknowledge the problem and (b) give us some indication of when a fix might be forthcoming.  Meanwhile, we all just try to implement local workarounds, which, even if they don't work, at least give you that little glimmer of hope for half an hour.

    Good luck!

So far this is what I have found in my house TP link access point (the one with three antennas) works like a charm, in my office the have those Cisco wireless routers that look like a flying saucer an had no big deal just a couple of resets since IOS6 at my daughter's school it feels horrible since IOS 6 I don't know that they have but it is big like antennas in every corridor and laptops and cell phones work fine but my iPad not; on my PC laptop I cave codeplex virtual router that I use for my IPad when I'm out out of range and it is giving me a headache many resets per day; those where my 2cents

Thank you so much . After trying everything possible with phone and router, I literally gave up all hope to get my home wifi working on my iPhone after updating to iOS6. Your suggestion fixed it. Thanks again.

My new iPad was running 5.1 and WiFi connection was working smoothly at home.  Few days ago I upgraded it to IOS 6 and everything went down hill from there.   Not to mentioned other inconvenient about the map and missing apps like YouTube, the WiFi started to acting up.

I noticed my WiFi connection would disconnected every 2 - 3 minute, and then I have to reconnect to WiFi manually again.  Some time it's impossble to connect again, and I had to turn off WiFi on iPad or reboot my wireless AP to get connected again.   My iPad is pretty much useless right now without WiFi connection.

I think this is one of the worst ISO upgrade I have ever experienced!!!

Look for an update to your router firmware from the manufacturer's support web page.
