Q: Anyone still having IOS 6 wifi issues?

Still having Wifi and other multiple issues: the phone doesnt easily change from WIFI to 3G when leaving a WIFI area OR wifi says connected and does not have any communication(unable to search or download) .

Though I'm not expecting anything like a solution, an IOS-Update or at least a statement...

Since I upgraded my Iphone4 and my Ipad2 to IOS6 i'm having lots of problems connecting to the Internet via wifi.

At the moment i have to reboot my router at home every time i want to connect my IOS-devices.

In other places where I used to connect to the wifi, but don't have access to the hardware, there's no way getting an internet connection...

So...let's say i'm really kind of disappointed.

I hope there's an update soon.  I'm only having one problem with iOS6 on my new iPad (3) but it involves Wi-Fi and can be a deal breaker.

I'll be watching a movie, netflix, amazon prime, etc., via my wireless networking (Apple Extreme 5th Generation router) and suddenly the Wi-Fi connection will go away and the iPad will begin using cell data.  There is absolutely no warning of this and as my cell connection is fast enough to stream video I don't realize that this has happened. As you can imagine it chews up cell data very quickly.

My only recourse so far has been to turn cell data off while at home--and hope I remember to re-enable it when I leave the area of Wi-Fi.

This did not happen-ever-when using iOS5 on my new iPad (3).

I have reported this to Apple via feedback.

I'm still having co me giving issues since upgrading to ios6 a few weeks ago. At home I can connect to our wireless network but once I leave the house, there is no 3G connectivity at all. Like carrying a brick around all day. Useless. Come on apple - do something about this, you've got a lot of unhappy customers waiting.

I have found a resolution for my issue.  After reading elsewhere about Mountain Lion Computer name changes (adding a number eg (1), (2), etc to the original name) I checked my iPad and it was looking for a computer name that no longer existed.  The computer name change was brought about by having both ethernet and wifi running on my iMac apparently?  I don't often (rarely) have both wifi and ethernet together on the iMac but would sometimes do so for testing purposes.

I changed my iMacs' name to what I'd originally set it as, plugged the iPad in to iTunes for a sync and since then I've been able to sync our iPads wirelessly with iTunes.  I've not experienced any other wifi or 3G issues as others are reporting and experiencing.

In any event there appears to be a software flaw, either Mountain Lion or iOS 6, don't know which.  I'd never experienced this issue with iOS 5, or Lion.

I downloaded the ios 6 to my 4s and i lost my wifi connection.  In my situation, it would appear to be connected, then drop off after a few minutes.  And when it was connected, it really wasn't.  If I tried to connect to AOL radio or Pandora, it would just remain in a "buffering" state, then error out with "check your network connection"  So took it to the Genius bar and it connected right away to their unsecured wifi. They ran a few tests, said phone was fine, told me must be my router and sent me on my way.  So, I came here to the community forum and tried ALL the tricks, tips, and magic potions.  Nothing worked. Oh, forgot to mention. I also noticed my signal strength was very low. I always had pretty good signal strength and no problems with cellular data.  Well, I am no rocket scientist, but, obviously the ios update caused all of my issues.  So took it back to the genius bar and plead my case again and they agreed to swap my phone out.  So, got the phone, restored from an older back (with ios 5) and bada bing, no more issues.  Everything back to normal.  Just like magic.  So unless Apple produces some kind of fix soon, your best bet in my opinion would be to do a swap.  I had been trying to get my phone operational for weeks to no avail.  Wasted time and effort.

Well said! It is not the router. it is the IOS 6 that is the root of the problem

I'm having the same issue with my 4S on iOS 6. The iPad 3 on iOS 6 is perfect. The iPhone on the other hand will connect to the network but will have a very slow connection speed. I have to turn the phone off and on for it to connect and have a normal speed connection. I know it's not my router because the iPhone does this on all the networks it connects to.

I'm having wifi issues on both my ipad2 and 4S.   The iPad loses Internet connection frequently especially if I'm skyping.  But even if I'm not, I still lose the connection even while browsing the Internet.  Pages In safari are slow to load and I have to refresh to load them usually.  The 4s is t quite as bad but it has problems joining networks when I'm out and about.  And oh yes.. Still having mail issues on both.  It is so darn slow to refresh the mailbox about 50% of the time.  Better than before but annoying.  I love my Mac but I'm not as happy with the iPad or the iPhone anymore.

Same situation and I have tried every single so called solution to no avail.    Come on apple update your users with a patch or something to fix this problem.  Your OS6 update has done more harm than good. 

I went into the Apple store in Zurich yesterday and showed them the lack of signal, the fact my iphone4 no longer auto switches between wifi and cellular, that retrieving mail just hangs in wifi, so I have to fetch mail etc using cellular.  I was told the wifi protocol 'broke' - during the upgrade to IOS6.  And I should make an Genius appointment at which time my phone would be exchanged for a new one, at a cost of CH165 as my phone is now out of warranty.

Hey all, just an update. I went out today and at Costco broke down and bought a Netgear N900. I set it up and my phone 4S connected as soon as I typed in the password. I was using a Netgear WGT624 v3 and did everything under the sun to get my phone to connect after I lost connection.

This is only important because obviously it demonstrates that the wifi problem exists with the iOS software. I am thinking that the security settings on iOS 6 won't let you connect to a router that doesn't meet it's standards. Not everyone can go out and buy a new router just because Apple decided to screw them.

Overall, some of the advice here can help some people, but it comes down to the fact that a lot of routers out there just are physically unable to get the security settings that will allow iOS6 to connect. If your router can be changed within the settings, it will work. If your router is 8 yrs old (like my Netgear WGT624v3) you are out of luck and will have to either wait until Apple acknowledges the issue (probably not for another few months) or just do what I did and buy a new router.

On another note, the Netgear N900 is leaps and bounds faster than my old router so maybe it was time for an upgrade anyway.

Absolutely false. This more likely demonstrates that there is a bug in the firmware level that you have installed in your Netgear WGT624v3 router. This error is simply exposed by the new iOS 6.

WiFi is implemented according to a set of international standards (IEEE 802.11). Apple isn't doing its own thing. Unfortunately there are bugs in router firmware which often are only exposed by particular circumstances and new applications.
