Q: Anyone still having IOS 6 wifi issues?

I'm currently waiting on Apple support to call me back about this issue, but I thought I would reach out here to see if anyone else is having similar issues.

I upgraded to IOS 6 yesterday afternoon, and immediately after I could no longer connect to the Wifi at my place of employment.  Everyone had this issue, no big deal.

Went home, Wifi worked fine.

Came into work this morning and I am still unable to connect. I have tried all of the various recommended fixes, and even gone so far as to do a complete restore.   I work at a university with multiple networks and access points and have tried connecting to several, both secure and unsecure, with no luck.

This is what happens:

Unsecure Networks: Attempt to connect, wheel spins, Error Message: "Unable to Connect"

Secure Network: Attempt to connect, prompted for password, enter password, Error Message: "Incorrect Password"  (Yes I entered the correct password, I tried multiple times, and the IT tech was able to connect to it with his iPad 2 running IOS 5)

I am also not the only one, everyone on campus who has upgraded their iPad 3 to IOS 6 is unable to connect. (All staff/factulty have iPads, most have upgraded)

I have spoken with the IT department and they are baffled, they have tried rebooting various routers and access points to no avail.

Obviously there is something different happening in IOS 6 that is causing these issues.  My question is has anyone else encoutered this issue, and if so what have you done to fix it?

I have seen people above who have upgraded firmware on their personal wireless routers with success, but for a university with literally hundress of access points and routers this is out of the question, at least in the short term.

as soon as i touch the phone u can see it switch from 3G to wifi, but in that time facetime won't recieve calls for example.

I should point out that when I ran the speed test (through the speed test app) that I was able to download but no uploads on both of my home wifi routers (belkin and linksys).  So a wierd byproduct of this was that I could get mail updates for example but if I attemped to send an email it would error out and not send it until I switched off wifi on the phone and went over the cell network.

One annoying part of this bug is that I could never connect to iTunes on the phone to get app updates from my home wifi routers.  At work, Starbucks, neighbors with Apple AirPort no problem.

Ios 6.0.1 update didn't solve Anything for me. Wifi works ok on any normal wifi but at work where you require to log in it will not work. As explained before. You enter the wifi and then a login page appears. That same instance wifi drops so you can never login. Worked fine in ios 5, works fine on any android, works fine on any laptop or even my MacBook Air but nobody with a iPhone or iPad with ios 6 or 6.0.1 can log in. Solve it apple, I read every excuse in the book but seriously this honestly is a pure ios 6 problem

Hi Everyone. I've slacked off posting problems with WiFi issues related to Iphone 4S with IOS6 and 6.0.1, ive posted so much suggested work arounds etc.

I got my hands on 2 * Iphone 5's and the same issue, unable to connect to my companies Netgear Wireless Access Point WG102 with Firmware 5.01 their latest firmware. The only work-around was to DOWNGRADE firmware !!. I've worked in IT with various Network / Support etc etc roles to know that its not a sensible thing to do

BUT guess what, it worked !, and further more, look at Netgears Response as well which i'll happily share

"There are no updates yet when the new firmware will be released. You may visit our website regularly to check the if a new firmware is already released. By the way, the firmware that will not allow Apple devices with IOS 6 has been removed from the website.

Since that the case has been resolved by the work-around that we gave you, the case will be now set to close. You may open up a new case if you need further assistance.

    Sincerely,

    Aljo Lim

    -----------------------------

Word of warning, it might not be the Iphone 5's issue to have connectivity problems to those WAP's out in the market; Product vendors who are NOT going to support the older WAP's with ongoing firmware updates FORCE consumers to BUY a newer / alternative product.

This goes for consumers, companies and everyone...

Looks like i might be saying goodbye to my Netgear Infrastructure products and tossing them out and looking for another brand i think.

    So much for legacy support..

    To continue , a few days later;

I posted a " problems fixed " the other day ,there

is a caveat to this . I can only use the internet and or

youtube at home  where we have a download speed of

11-18 Mbs  download speed  on my iphone 4 on ios6.1

it won't toutch 5.6 average we had before so won't

work in most other places I go to.

We cannot let this go,this is tantamount to forcing

Apple customers to upgrade at what I see as considerable

cost £500-600. to maintain a type of service  we have

already paid for. Apple must be made to feel the dissaproval

of it's maybe stupidly loyal customers.at the moment

    Apple stinks.

    Yep I'm experiencing similar problems.

I went on to the apple express lane and put in the details of my phone etc. I find it remarkable that in the section 'service requests and troubleshooting', when you tick the  'Unable to connect to AirPort or other WiFi network' radio button, It takes you to a drop down that asks, 'Does the product work in another location? ' and then when you replied, No, It USED TO SAY 'did it stop working after iOS 6 upgrade (or something very similar).

    They have removed this dropdown....

THIS IS DISGRACEFUL and they are hiding the problem.

Second call to Apple today after being told that my case had been escalated to engineering and that they would call me back yesterday (they didn't).

American lady tried to tell me that they weren't aware of this issue I then refered her to this forum, with views of nearly 102000 people and nearly 1000 replies. seriously, NO ONE from Apple is at least giving these forums a cursory glance? call me cynical but I don't believe that for one minute....

I aggree with applevictim and even though I hate to say it, it really does look like Apple are trying to force iphone 4 customers to upgrade.

As an apple advocate macs, ipads, iphones and networked with airport extreme and expresses throughout our house I will be an unenthusiastic leaver of the apple network and the decision will be largely based on the response from the apple team.

Everyone makes mistakes, I thought that Apple were learning from theirs.....?

IOS update 6.0.1 did not fix the problem

I have noticed that after the update Cellular connection appears to be better but WIFI is still flaky.   I have noticed at least for me that changing the HTTP Proxy settings to AUTO allows me to remain connected.  Without this setting change the WIFI connection appears to be connected but applications complain that there's no data connection.  I also notice I am not able to surf the web on safari even though the connection shows as active in WIFI menu.   This is so frustrating and I know Apple is aware of this issue..

Apple please fix this as this issue was not present in IOS 5.0 and soon please!!!!

It seems there's not as many posts with new update as compared to iOS 6 but I'm still having problems. Best But wouldn't replace my iPad with 1 year warranty cuz it worked in their store. It's been 7 weeks now with no or slo wifi.   I've tried everything and am grasping at straws and a lil paranoid but came across this web article only because the community I live in have Broadcom routers. It allegedly states that the BCM chip 4329 in select Apple devices are vulnerable and can disrupt wifi. I contacted Broadcom (no technical support) and Apple (no help) about this issue but who knows. http://www.notebookforums.com/t/240743/broadcom-dos-on-bcm4325-and-bcm4329-devic es-vulnerable-to-attacks

I had this issue too... Resolved it by backing up & wiping my iPhone 4, reinstalling firmware, them going into 192.168.0.1 and manually connecting my iPhone to the network. Seems to be an incompatibility issue with the modem. Bit shabby on Apple's part, the iPhone is an expensive peice of kit, should not have compatability issues like this, really..

Cheers everyone for your help ^^

I have has very slow wifi on all my iOS devises since upgrading to iOS 6. Last week upgraded to 6.0.1 and this fixed the issues on iPhone 5 and 4S but did not improve my iPad 2 at all. Even after a restore to factory settings the wifi on my iPad 2 is very slow. Speed tests confirm its just 1mb and my other devices get 2.8mb. I can even watch streamed video anymore. I have tried changing DNS Settings to 8.8.8.8 and http Proxy to Auto and it does not help. Even changed router settings to unsecured and no improvement. Work Wifi is 8mb and iPad 2 still only gets about 1mb.  Any other suggestions greatly appreciated. Really unhappy with Apple as my iPad is practically useless without a decent download speed......6.0.1 should have sorted this problem.

Hi, I have the same problem with an iPad Mini the WIFI stops working after a few minutes when the screen is locked. I installed the new version 6.0.1 and still the same problem. I did also reset the network settings. But no luck.

I have 2 other iPads but with iOS 5 (my kids), an iPhone 4s and an iPod Touch, and they all have the WIFI icon when the screen is lock and get notifications (on battery mode)

With my brand new iPad Mini when I try to use SIRI on the lock screen, she will remind me that she is not avaliable. My WIFI is AWOL !!!

I´m thinking of getting a replacement seeing that Apple is like always ignoring the end user.

I'm still having wifi issues.  I wrote apple as well and have not had any answer.  I plan on going into the apple store next.  I would be happy just to get iOS 5 back at this point.
