I will follow your suggestions.
My iPad3 cannot see my whole library, and only few artist are displayed (but almost all albuns!). The iPhone dosen't load the library (the process stops in the middle of the process).
I am using Plex to access my music library with no problem! It is working fine as usual, but I would like to use my home sharing...
I hope that Apple fix it soon!
Same problem here...using an iPad 2 as a "remote" and homesharing from my music library on a PC to Apple TV, my entire library became invisible to my iPad 2 upon installation of iOS 6. The only thing that kinda works to fix it is, as one person recommended, signing out of home sharing and then signing back in. Doing this, my library appears ONLY when sorted by SONG. If I sort by ALBUM or by ARTIST, no tracks show.
Hoping for a solution soon.
This homesharing bug is a pretty big miss. The 'browse a homeshare by Artist' test case should have been part of the requirements before shipping. An entire testing team at Apple must have missed this.
I've tried all the recommendations I've found (sign in/out of homesharing on all devices/computers, reseting network connections) and nothing works.
Apple, please do not hold up this homesharing patch for Maps!!!
Ahhh. The mthical home sharing folder. I've tried and tried to get access to it on my 4th gen Touch, and it has never worked. In a year and a half I've never even seen the folder appear in my Music. . . until I downloaded ios 6. Now I've got this sweet little shared folder in the More section, I bump it and there's my library. I bump my library . . . and get the half moon of death. lol. Well, I guess it's progress. Hopefully Apple will get it figured out before the device is obsolete. Thanks for info you guys. Keep the faith.
Same thing. I've been watching from the sidelines but I have a little update. Now when I open the home sharing folder I actually see my songs and I can play them if they're listed in the normal view. When I try to search or sort, however, iTunes crashes immediately. I guess that some progress, but with a big library still pretty useless. No idea what changed to account for the new behavior.
Just received a call from the Apple Support Advisor. She told me engineering got back with her and asked we try something and required more information:
We created a new iTunes library on my iMac and imported just one album. It did show up in home share in my iPad 3 but the displays were still not correct.
They requested a bunch of info regarding my iMac, which I sent them along with some screen shots.
I referred her again to this thread letting her know many more were having problems since last time we spoke; different iDevices and both PC's and macs. She was sending the info to engineering and said she would be back to me, hopefully sooner than the wait last time. I said I would call her Sunday PM if I haven't heard and she was supportive of that.
Got a feeling this may be a tough one to resolve for them. Hope I'm wrong.
