iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8), 1-TB Seagate Barracuda 7200/32MB HD

First of all, SBBOD isn't the problem, so much as being stuck on blue sceen with an intermittent rotating gear. I've tried Safe Mode, PRAM and get same result. Also, when starting up with Option, my external HD Backup isn't recognized. In Single User/UNIX I followed detailed commands to fix disc but still, to no avail. Need to know any other fixes or is my Hard Drive fried (again)!
PS: I don't qualify for said HD Replacement Program. Mine is 2009.
SBBOD isn't the problem
Sorry, misread the spinning gear as the SBBOD. If you've followed the steps in http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1545 and AHT shows HD issues, then all I can suggest is a trip to an Apple repair facility, since you're inability to boot with the ext HD backup indicates more than just the int HD getting fried.
Tried that, too. Just to be clear, are you suggesting I may also have other hardware or ExtHD problems? By the way, my Mac runs Snow Leopard (10.6.8), not Leopard (sighted in your last link).

Yes, especially since you can't boot with the ext HD.
