My brothersis a Verizon user ,so I am. He texts me through my email using the email address my phone number and @vzwpix.com .. when i open the email the text are as an attachment & i have to download it .. Does anyone know how to fix this ?

I am also having this problem with the vtexts now being received as vzwpix and the (email) recipient having to open them up as an attachment. I contacted Verizon last week and troubleshooted for 40 minutes. They just returned my call and have confirmed that there IS an issue with vtext and the new IOS6 system with Apple on the iPhone 4 and 5. They are waiting to hear from Apple as to how to resolve the issue. I will let you know if I hear anything more 🙂
Yes. An xxxxxxxxxx@vzwpix.com email address is meant to be used for photos and other multimedia messages. For text to go through without downloading the attachment, you must send it to xxxxxxxxxx@vtext.com . Hopefully this works for you as it does for me!
And conversely IMHO, messages via vtext.com are probably subject to the 140-character limit of text messages, so anything larger than a couple or few hundred bytes automatically goes to vzwpix.com, because the message is too large for vtext to handle.
It happens with messages that are well under 140 characters also. I have a suspicion this is a way to push up the monthly data usage which can generate a nice bill for the service provider. Your original question was posted in 2012 - it's now 2016 and still happening. Someone had to program it in, this stuff doesn't grow on trees.

Use the phone number@vtext.com instead of @vwtext.com
