I did the reset and now it seems it's working properly. But I found something quite interesting. Before iOS6, you decided where to put the max brightness with the slide bar, and the screen would dim in the dark but it would never increase the brightness beyond that point. With iOS 6 this setting has changed. Now the phone adjusts the brightness depending of the amount of light despite where you had set the max in the slide bar. Like the ambient sensor works in the MacBooks.

I also noticed that the ALS stoped working properly with the Siri's 'Rise to Speak' feature turned on. So I guess this bug has to do with the way the sensors are configured now.

Sorry about the grammar, but English is not my language.

In the iPad, open the Settings app and drag the brightness slider to 50%. While 'Brightness and Wallpaper' still open, go to a bright source of light (window, lamp, etc.) and see if it changes; now go to a dark room and see if the button starts to slide to the left (very slowly; really, now it's very slow). Put the iPad to sleep (Still on brightness and wallpaper) and then wake it up again and see if the position of the slidebar changes. Remember that now the ALS behavior has changed and now it works like in OS X.

If you don't see any changes, then it would be time to consider a restore of the iOS via iTunes:

Hope it helps.

Again, sorry about the grammar hehe

I believe it's going to be this way from now on... I have to admit it was pretty freaking annoying the first days, but now I appreciate the fact that I don't have to open the settings every time I want to make the screen brighter, as I used to. I really don't know if this behavior is only intended for the last two models of the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad (processor power). I also don't know if I drank the Kool aid, but now I like the feature.

You can always try the restore and see if something changes. If you do it please let us know your findings.
