So last night I fully charged my phone; had 100% as of 12:40 am.  No bluetooth, and no usage at all.  Woke up at 6:40am and my phone had gone down 17%.  Seriously; in 6 hours with no usage??  I'd think it should've gone down about 3% in that amount of standby time.  After reading these tips, here's what I did (in bold):

GoTo: Settings/Privacy/Location Services/System Services (scroll to the bottom).

    Turn off:

    Genius for Apps

    Location-Based iAds

    Traffic

    GoTo: Settings/General/Cellular

    Turn off:

    iTunes

    Passbook Updates

    Reading List

Reboot your phone (turn it off/on)

Plus I turned off push for email.  Recharged my phone, now it's set for almost an hour at the same percentage of charge.  My best guess right now is it's a combo of the Push for email, and the Traffic services.

I had noticed when my battery was draining; that my connections to simple things like apps updates could be VERY slow, even on a quick wifi network.

Now after turning the push and traffic off; my phone seems to load web pages and such MUCH faster.  I think something (push and or traffic) has been hogging up the data, and eating the battery up as well.

The more I'm watching this: the more certain I am it's the traffic setting that needs to be turned off.  Last night my battery dropped an average of 3% per hour with NO usage between midnight and 6am.  Now after making the changes to the settings; my phone has sat for over an hour and hasn't changed the percentage at all.

I've already suffered the battery fiasco since having my 4s. I'm on my seventh phone now after returning to apple..... I was then able, with everything off and following vet bit of advice on these forums and elsewhere to get the phone to last until around 5pm with 12 hours standby and two hours usage (often when i barely used the phone!) Today, with the update the phone shut down telling me I had 10 hours standby and 8 hours usage..... Ridiculous! I didn't even send a text today, use the web, play music or take a phone call.... Think the only usage I've had today was a quick check of the weather! Back to recalibrating and doing a full reinstall again tomorrow; probably without any difference.  Very disappointed and will definitely leave apple when this contract finally expires...... Not a happy bunny.

So in other words you are suggesting to go back to 2005's times snd don't use any of the services that make the iPhone (or any other smartphone in 2012) atractive??

    Right,

Turned off the traffice and passbook. Did a full backup and restore.

    21:00 - 100% Battery

    Lets see what happens.

Going to use it just how I normally do.

Deactivate facebook from device, restart the device and wait for update from apple... best way to solve it for now! Battery stops draining fast!

Factory reset, full charge and Traffic off and 99% after 1.5 hours.

May be a stop gap measure but less of a drain.

My phones now been sitting idle for an hour. Still showing 100%. In quite sure turning off traffic and/or push is what solved it.
