I have almost always had this issue with the upgrades at first. Two versions ago was the worst but Apple eventually tweaked something and it was alright after that.

I think there is some extra synching going on at first (as stuff updates etc) and then it usually settles back down.

Last night after I upgraded it seemed to drain fast (maybe it was just from playing with the new toy) but it was back to regular drain today.

Dont panic, hang in there, it might resolve itself.

To turn off PUSH:  Settings, Mail/Contacts.,.  Then turn off Fetch New Data.

I also have the 4s and iOS 6 is draining my battery 1% per minute. Hmmm.

    Hope they fix this soon.

    This might be pertinent: http://gigaom.com/apple/is-your-mac-running-hot-with-lion-heres-why/

Even though this link dicusses issues with Macs, it still is on topic of major operating system upgrades. If this is the case I would assume our batteries will start acting normal after some time. I say this because in addition to my battery depleting faster I've noticed my iPhone is hotter than usual.

I upgraded iphone 4 with iOS 6 yesterday and noticed a drastic change in battery life. After upgrade battery was at 100% and was on standby for 6 Hrs and battery reduced to 18%.

I had the same problem too! I think I solved it, by putting my phone (4s) into DFU mode and recover it through iTunes. I recharged my phone not too long ago and it's looking okay, not rapidly draining on me. Give that a try.

Yup. I'm facing the same issue as well. Battery draining faster after upgrading to iOS 6. I have tried everything from turning off 'Notifications'/'Location Services' to reducing even the brightness on my phone to no resolve. I have also rebooted my phone and it doesn't help either.

Is there anything else I must be doing?

Same problem here. By noon I was down to 18% battery life, and I had barely used the phone! I turned off all data and that dramatically reduced the drain rate. But if I'm going to turn off my data, what's the point in having the phone? Same problem with my wife's 4S (I have the 4). Hopefully when the 5 arrives tomorrow it won't have the same problem.

Hate to be a me too; but, me too :(

I've experienced significant battery loss since the update.  I updated within the hour after the os was released.  My iPhoner 3GS  used to stay charged for 1.5 to 2 days if I forgot to charge it; but, today I had to charge it after less than a day after an overnight charge :!

I also have an iPad 3; that one is also experiencing serious battery drain.  We're talking it went from good for a couple of days to less than a day!!!!!!!!!!

My usage has not changed.  I didn't use either device any more heavily than usual.  My wife also has a 3GS; I'll ask her to keep an eye on hers to see if she notices any difference.

Of the people who have noticed a power drain; how many of you use Stanza?

No issue with battery for my 4. However I turned push notifications off ages ago.

Oh yeah, I forgot; after my iPad 3 went from 100% to 50% in half a day; I plugged it in to charge; I was floored that it was not fully charged after 5 hours of plugging it into it's rapid charger!!!!

    It was only 79%

This has never happened before !!
