    Hey AbacusPete,

Trying your suggestions plus the folowing

    • Just did a full backup and restore.
    • Turned mobile data (Cellular data) back on
    • Turned spotlight searched back on

Just re-syncing all the applications (*yawn*) and then will see how the battery life is.

Here is something I noticed that was draining the battery pretty fast and once I turned it off my phone was back to normal. Settings>General>Restrictions>Location Services>System Services (have to scroll all the way down to the bottom)>Traffic off.

Turning traffic off seems to help. I think what is happening is that it is constantly pinging apple servers to update traffic even when you are not using the maps app to drive.

No one should have to go through that many steps to make their phone usable.  Might as well not have a phone.

    I turned off the following:

    1. Bluetooth (why was this turned on during the upgrade?)
    2. Push mail
    3. iCloud: everything except the iPhone location service (According to developer communities, iCloud seemed to be be a battery issue already during the beta release of iOS 6)

This saved my battery, I can even charge it now ;-)

The phone also is no longer permanently hot on the backside.

Now it's time to gradually turn settings back on to determine which service is the real battery hog...

My battery is draining rapidly as well on my iPhone 4s after upgrading to iOS 6.

I called Apple support and they instructed me to back-up my phone, and then restore it.

It looks like other people have tried this without success, but I am going to give it try!

If it does not fix the issue I was told to go to expresslane.com/apple.com.

    Hope this helps!!

Same problem here. I used to charge my iPhone 4 every 2 days. Now the phone is dead within 24 hours.

I can promise that this is not caused by turn-by-turn directions. I live in a city and usually take transit, which is no longer part of maps...

Like others I was having bad battery drain also on my iPhone 4s with iOS6.

I did a backup and restore and the battery life is back to normal.

I used iTunes local backup and restore instead of iCloud just to speed things up.

As far as restoring goes, after I back up my phone do I "erase all content and settings"? And then restore back up through iTunes?

    Thanks!

I used the "Restore" button in iTunes after selecting my phone under "Devices" on the left.

Then chose "Back up" when the dialog box pops up.

    Thanks! Restoring my phone now

I also called Apple customer service, and they told me backing up and restoring my phone should fix the problem!

Traffic On/Off…..If you live in a metropolitan area that broadcasts traffic information (accidents, construction, etc.) it should advise you of the delay.  However, If you are NOT  in a traffic broadcast area I suspect it just keeps searching, and searching, and searching.
