Q: iMessage not delivering messages ios 6

After upgrading 1 of my iphone 4 handsets to ios 6, imessage has stopped delivering messages to other ios 6 handsets

When switching off iMessage and sending via SMS every message is delivered x10 tests to ios6 iphone 4

Re-initiating iMessage, then iMessages sent from to iphone 4 on ios6 to another iphone 4 on ios 6 are not delivered ( some times it even says delivered when it hasn't been)

Sending iMessage from iphone 4 on ios 6 to iphone 4 on ios 5.1 no problem delivered every time.

Sending iMessage from iphone 4 on ios 5.1 to iphone 4 on ios 6 no problem delivered every time.

problem seems to be with iMessages from ios 6 to ios 6

iMessage turned off and reactivated 4 times

phone has been restarted 2 times

cant think of any other testing to do.

This needs to be sorted quickly as i don't know what I am missing until someone calls and said did you get my messages... em no !

iPhone 4, iOS 6

The problem is facebook integration. Same issue, tried sending message/email, etc to GF. She didn't get them. It was trying to send it to her facebook mail that is now default. As mentioned before, you can't select which number/email to send to. A few solutions: Facebook defaulted everyones visible email to their facebook mail ddress on their timeline back in June. You can change which email is visible on your timeline, and that will then filter down to your contacts in ios6 for your friends on facebook. If they change their email back to their regular email on facebook, when you email them it will now go to their regular email (for all those who can't find those fantom messages-look in your facebook email). Other solution is to go to settings-->facebook-->allow these apps to use your account-->turn contacts to off.  Then when you go to send a message/email, it will be the old standard of asking which phone/email to send to(contacts that have more than 1)

for more info on the facebook email default isssue, see link--http://techcrunch.com/2012/09/20/facebook-email-contact-sync/    Message was edited by: rhayes10

or you can also go to contacts-->groups-->uncheck facebook from your contacts and then you get the prompt for which number/email you are trying to send to while keeping facebook contacts on.

Facebook is definitely not my issue -- mine seems to be integration with Messages on OS X.

    Here's my thread on it:

    Try this: (my solution)

On the iPad > Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > UNtick the phone number and only use email.*

On the iPhone > Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Tick all.*

When people text your mobile number you will receive only on your phone. To continue a conversation on your iPad through iMessage it will simply start a new conversation (from your email) on the other persons device.

Hope this helps, works for my situation.

*Note: May need to turn the devices off and on or iMessage off and on for it to register the change.

Sorry Garry, that last post was in response to drguitarum2005.

It's probably worth double checking those settings on each iPhone anyway, if you haven't done so already.

    All the best

    all

i resolved this issue on my iPhone by resending an iMessage which had failed to get through, as a text by pressing the failed message untill the option to "send as text" came up. this then seemed to clear the system, and it all works fine now. i had to do this with all my contacts who have previously used iMessage. i have sucessfully iMessaged friends on iOS5 and iOS6 now.

    hope that helps

This is unfair and they're paying those beta testers and yet they could not foreseen something like this?!?  Having trouble with iMessages involving non-iphone users while iphone users aren't any problem - yet.  I just turned off iMessage then reboot then went back to turn iMessage back on and it NOW is saying "Waiting for activation" What the HECK is that??  I truly miss Steve Jobs....

Still broken. Started magically working again last night. Got home today and tried and broken again. This is clearly an Apple issue that they need to get on ASAP. As the updates come out I get less and less impressed by Apple. In two years when my contract is up I see an android in my future.

The inability to send iMessages is 100% due to Facebook integration. Until the problem is sorted just go to Settings/Facebook select your account name and DELETE it. Choosing the option NOT to save integrated contacts.

Maybe facebook integration fixed YOUR problem, but I still have serious Messages problems sending to AND receiving from another iPhone, and I don't even have facebook on my phone, much have been logged into it!

I had this problem. I tried turning iMessage off and on, several reboots, and turning facebook off. What seemed to work for me was removing the email address I had registered for iMessage... and then later adding it back. Now everything is delivering immediately without failure.
