Spamron: I usually don't comment on stuff like this but I just can't help but say something after reading these posts. I can certainly relate to your frustrations about the insensitive comments that were made because I also have an autistic son and I too searched out this discussion board when he discovered (also in frustration) that the YouTube app was gone on his iPad. However I have to say that by critizing those that don't fully understand our kids as you have here we are really not helping to educate people about autism but rather giving them reason to continue to ostrisize our kids. Wouldn't it be better if we gently sought to explain our children's needs to those who perhaps have maybe not come into contact with these "special" kids before and thereby educating them so that they will hopefully be better equipped to respond more appropriately in the future.

On another note, while I wasn't thrilled by this change either, I do continue to be grateful to Apple for the wonderful things that the iPad has added to my sons life and I believe that if we want Apple to continue to invent great technology to help our kids we need to understand that change is bound to happen in the process (as hard as that may be for our kids.) Therefore rather than stress over this situation and the frustration of the people who don't understand our children's needs I am choosing to view this as an opportunity to educate others about the challenges of autism AND as yet another oopportunity to help my son navigate the world in which he lives- no matter how uncomfortable it might be for him!

Just my thoughts!

What no one has mentioned, far as I can tell, is the lack of up-front communication from Apple. Once again it seems the customers are the last thing they consider - if they consider them at all. Look how many people were completely unaware that the upgrade was going to delete apps - or "result in certain 3rd party apps no longer being available", if you're a lawyer. They are so arrogant to just remove the app without telling iPad owners. They know the usage statistics - they know how many people are effected - they could have given a warning and the chance to opt-out of the upgrade - but no, that kind of Macy's-helping-Gimbel's attitude only happens in the movies, I guess. Well, Apple, congratulations, you got rid of that terrible Google app - you win the Scrooge of 2012 Award!

James, that's not entirely true. You can't zoom full screen on th iPad with the website youtube like you can with the youtube app on the iPhone (and previously with the iPad youtube app).

I think this is what everyone is complaining about. Bottom line is if you're not going to improve the user experience, then quit changing stuff.

I think you're missing my main point, which is lack of consideration for us, their customers. Did they publish anywhere that this would happen to you when you upgrade? Did they warn you and give you a chance to opt out of the upgrade or to undo the upgrade? These issues are part of the bigger user experience, and just as valid if not moreso than the technical ones.

"For US their customers"? No, you don't speak for every one using an iOS device. So I'll restate my point. The change was for me, and my "user experience", a welcome one. As far as I am concerned they did the right thing and accessing YouTube is now a better experience. It isn't a "tehnical reason" I'm talking about. They put responsibility for delivering YouTube content back where it belongs, with Google.
