No more YouTube app from Apple. There's been quite a discussion in the past weeks. Google has released a YouTube app for the iPhone but it's not optimized for the iPad yet. Meanwhile you can use the mobile version of YouTube at
m.youtube.com
Works for my needs very well.
Two problems with the YouTube mobile site. (1) No true full screen view. Browser bars still show. And (2), There is no Airplay option as before.
I don't know why, but apple have just removed one of the features I used quite a lot, causing nothing but hassle for me, and only a rubbish mobile site as replacement ! Ridiculous! Wish I had never updated to iOS 6!
Maybe they'd like to explain it to my son who has special needs and is currently having a meltdown and wrecking the house because he can't find it anymore!!!
This *****! I am a YouTube junkie and I don't like the view in Safari as well as the original app!
I can totally relate. My 11yo daughter is Autistic and LOVES You Tube also. We are using Safari and just going to www.Youtube.com and getting used to the "look". Good luck.
did you forget you had safari? Of course he can't find it, maybe you should help him via Safari...
Geez people...you act like your life is crumbling because of an app that can be easily accessed through the internet.
No I didn't forget Safari and have accessed it through there but with autism a change in something is massive and it does mean life is crumbling. It looks different, it responds differently and it involves more reading and typing which he cant do as opposed to just touch screen and swiping. It may seem a small thing to most but for him it's huge, stressful and taken something away that he could do quite independently.
I spent all night reloading all his favourites, hoping he adjusts to the new look quickly, unfortunately he does need more help using it this way rather than being able to do it himself.
Hope your daughter is coping with the change ok.
I ran into the same problem too. However, I was able to use iTunes to locate YouTube in the App Store without too much effort - downloaded, performed a Sync which installed it on my iPad. As one of the post stated, the iPad search is yet to be optimized for YouTube.
I too have two Autistic children and the loss of something that we find mildly annoying is a complete change of life for them. People like you make me very angry. You talk like you invented the iPad and talk from your high horse like you know everything and you are the coolest thing that ever walked the earth. Problem is that us real grown-ups have children to keep happy and safe and that is not easy because children who are autistic live in a world that is very confusing and very scary to them. So when they like something that everyone else enjoys they can get very used to the feeling of having that around, so to loose something just like YouTube can unsettle them and ruin their routine and cause a lot of heart ache for them and less importantly us. Can I suggest next time you want make a comment that trivialises what for others is a serious problems that you might want to read up on what Autism is, or indeed other problems other people may have. Because if you did that you might not of offended people like you have and would have prevented us thinking you are like a spoilt little boy.
I have a autistic child too who found this whole YouTube thing hard. I thought that doclochte's comment was both childishly insensitive and annoying. I have left a message here for him. All the best to you.
This *****, YouTube was how I entertained my daughter. Is there a way to go back to iOS 5???

I've been using Apple devices for about 28 years. The issue I have is not so much about access to YouTube, but more about Apple removing an application from my device. In 28 years, this is the first time it's happened. I have to enter my password to download apps, I paid for my device, and I pay monthly for access to the Internet. At which of those points does apple become the manager of my device content? I've had apps stop working in the past with an updated os; and then it is my job to remove or ignore them. Obviously, it's not in the consumer's best interest for apple to go to war with google. I realize YouTube was a preinstalled app, however, many of us relied on it for delivering content in a user friendly, familiar way.
