iOS 6 Bluetooth problems

Yeah I forgot to mention that my girlfriend has an ipod touch that hasn't been updated to iOS6 and they work fine on that without issues.

It has to be iOS6 causing this error.

I've had Bluetooth problems since iOS 5, used to work absolutely fine but now I'm used to the music cutting out after 2 or 3 mins. I just plug my old reliable iPod 3rd gen in via USB. MUCH more reliable then my £600 iPhone 5.

This has been a known issue for ages, I guess iOS6 has just made it worst?

Not here. My bluetooth was fine right through iOS5. This started with the iOS6 update for me. I've also got a number of friends having problems with wifi since they updated, though this hasn't affected me.

This is my first Apple product and have found some issues with Bluetooth and iOS6.

I have a 2011 Camry. Up until now, I have been pretty much issue free using my old android phone and Bluetooth in my car.

Since I got the iPhone5, I have been having connectivity issues.

My phone connects fine. I can make calls and listen to music from my phone, no issue.

However, when I receive a call, that is another story alltogether.

Phone and car both recognize there is a call.

When I answer the call, either on the phone or steering wheel, Bluetooth IMMEDIATELY disconnects and the radio comes back up to regular volume, like the call was ended.

It was not ended. The caller is still on the phone. At that point, I have to talk to them on the handset itself.

The phone says it is still connected to the car. The car says it is still connected to tthe phone.

NOT TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I disconnect the phone from car, the phone will not be able to find the car to pair again.

The ONLY way to get my phone and car connected again is to shut the car off and restart it.

I have started to hang up on people when they call me. I call them back. That way I am sure to keep my Bluetooth connection.

PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE. I do a lot of traveling and rely on Bluetooth when I am in my car. If the connection is not there, I have to talk on the handset and not have both hands on the wheel.

VERY DANGEROUS.

It appears that many of us were given the run-around with this problem, being told that we had hardware problems or that our headset was not supported (what part of Bluetooth standard do these guys not understand?).

Unfortunately, Apple seems to have released iOS 6 with a few bugs. In particular, Bluetooth drop out is a common issue for iOS 6.

Well, I bought a microSD card, a microSD to SD card adaptor, downloaded the latest firmware for my GROM audio bluetooth adaptor unit, and flashed the ****** thing from the microSD, and hey presto, the phone now pairs perfectly with the adaptor, holds the connection, and re-pairs each time I power up the dash!

Now I just need Apple to solve the problem of pairing my iPhone with my Air...

Same problems with iPhone 5 / iOS6.

Streaming bluetooth audio is terrible. Sounded great on my iPhone 4 (even after iOS6 update???) and now my iPhone 5 streaming audio sounds pitiful...like AM radio or worse. Crackling / hissing / sounds like speakers are blown on a brand new VW Golf R.

Hope there's a fix in the works?!

KrankyMike seems to have the most legitimate answer that makes sense. From his dealings with customer service a power saver mode on bluetooth could very likely cause the dropouts and disconnections. Lets hope apple fixes this with some sort of new power profile for the bluetooth chip. I am sure this can be accomplished with a software update. Thanks for the info Mike.

This may well explain the rapid battery depletion as well.

On a positive note, I have noticed that the bluetooth streaming audio fidelity has improved over IOS 5.1.1.

Even tho the range, funtionality and over-all usefulness got completely hosed. 😠

Well I finally went into the Apple store to talk with them. I have an iPhone 4S and an iPad 2 which both were upgraded to iOS 6 and immediately thereafter I had issues with Bluetooth wireless headsets, Denon wireless fitness headphones, BMW connectivity in my car, and a Jambox wireless speaker.

The guy at the store wasn't surprised.

"Oh, we deal with this all the time." he said.

"Well is Apple doing anything to fix the problem?" I asked

"I imagine so...." he replied.

Then he went on to back up my iPhone & iPad, restore them both, reinstall iOS and then sync it with the cloud.

Problem fixed.....so far.....

I have the same issue when my hand covers certain parts of my iphone 5. Super annoying when playing music through bluetooth.

Ive had an imac since 2007 which i guess will be made obsolete when the follow-up to ML comes out. I bought an iphone 4 recently to have a phone that works in snyc with my mac. Ive upgraded my mac so everything is running new software and hardware and the phone is running ios6. Other than general teething problems its worked ok but now i have bought a handsfree device for it ive found that not only does it not pick up that device but it doesnt detect ANY devices under bluetooth. I drive for a living and by UK LAW i have to use a handsfree kit. (i was prosecuted earlier this year for not using one and now i am without one again thanks to apple.

I will be looking to buy new computer and phone next year and unless this bluetooth issue is acknowledged and being sorted out I will be be taking my business elsewhere and i will will do my upmost to persuade others to do the same thing.

there are always glitches with new systems we all understand that but if you choose to ignore what we are all saying on here we will definately be ignoring your products this christmas and beyond. In this internet age bad publicity spreads fast and this thread is not only old but long. Thats a lot of angry people, just wanting you to put your hand up and say " yea we screwed up but we're working on it". Give people peace of mind.

We are having problems with iPhone 4Ss that have been upgraded to iOS 6. Our App requires pairing with the SocketMobile CHS 7Xi bluetooth scanner.

The iPhone was in a state where NO bluetooth devices were detected, let alone paired.

We were able to rectify this by:

1. Scanner - Unpair the scanner (hold down power button and scan button at the same time).
2. iPhone - forget the device, if in device list.
3. iPhone - close all Apps.
4. iPhone - Power reset the iPhone (hold down on/off switch and home button simultaneously until "slide to power off" switch appears).

After the above steps, the iPhone detected bluetooth devices and paired normally.

I saw your post re your BMW. I have a similar issue with my 5 series. When I start the car the bluetooth works fine for the first 2-3 calls. Thereafter, the calls only come through the iPhone itself (not the car's bluetooth system. If I shut the car off and restart it, it works again for a few calls. I brought it to BMW yesterday and after a $165 bill for some sort of reset and their assurance that it was working, the problem continues. I noticed this issue shortly after upgrading my iPhone 4S to IOS 6.

I have the same problem with a new iPhone 5 and the Alpine CDE-133BT. The most crippling aspect is not being able to use my phone through my car system. I am a physician and need to receive and make hands free calls during my commute.

Dear Apple,

It is a terrible sign that I check your forums daily hoping for a remedy to this Bluetooth connectivity problem for a brand new product. Here I find a growing number of your customers with the same complaint. After weeks of visiting these forums with no solution in sight, I do not see even an aknowledgement of the problem from the company. The car system manufacturer also is waiting on you for a response to address the situation.

What happened to "it just works?"
