iOS 6 Bluetooth problems

i have exactly the same problem with my iPad 3, and a Sony bluetooth speaker. i hope that adding more complains will increase the chance of a solution.

cracking and pausing (less than a second) happens with Wifi streamed music and with music stored on the iPad!

btw: the problem doesn't exist with the iPhone 5!

Solution - maybe.

I have had this problem on an Ipad 3 streaming music over wifi (spotify) and sending to a logitech bluetooth adapter plugged into my stereo. I get brief dropouts in the music every minute or two. It worked fine until the upgrade to IOS 6, and I can still use the bluetooth adapter for streaming music from a Windows laptop and an Android phone without problem.

It only happens on the Ipad when wifi and bluetooth are used simultaneously, so you can stream music and play it on the Ipad (or via a cable to the headphone socket) or you can play music already downloaded to the Ipad via bluetooth without a problem.

An upgrade to IOS 6.01 didn't fix it, neither did re-setting my router and trying a different channel, re-pairing bluetooth or a reset of the network settings.

Yesterday I noticed the option to reset all settings.

Go to Settings-General-(scroll to bottom of page)Reset-Reset All Settings

I then had to reconnect to my wifi network and pair with the bluetooth device again.

Having already reset the network I didn't really expect it to make any difference, but today for the first time in weeks I have been able to play music without any dropouts.

I have seen some posts where people have found the problem has resolved itself without them doing anything so it's possible that this is just a coincidence, but it is worth a try as it only takes a couple of minutes. Just make sure you know your wifi password.

I too have done a complete wipe and re-install of my phone. I set it up as a new phone with no apps, no contacts, no photos... bare bones setup.

My iPhone 4 won't even connect with my MacBook Pro via bluetooth, it used to before the IOS 6 upgrade. Twp flagship Apple products that no longer function together... and still, Apple remains silent as to the existence of the problem.

I am not impressed with them. Even a little "Yup, it's broke, we are working on a fix" would go a long way to soothe their customer base. Instead we get, "With the millions of iPhones out there, we would certainly know IF their really was a bluetooth problem".

If or when I get pulled over by the police for using a cell phone while driving, is Apple going to pay the $125 fine? Not to mention of course the 3 demerit points on my drivers licence.

So when is Apple going to correct this? Not a single reply! It's very frustrating to have Bluetooth on my pioneer DEH-P710BT and not be able to use it when it worked perfectly before the ios6 update.

In the last several days, I noticed that my iPhone4S battery kept running out of juice in less than 3 hours after I walk out of my house. Not sure if this has to do with iOS 6.0.1.

Then, I noticed that when I am driving, the phone would gets into an infinite loop doing these:

1. Transfer entire ContactList to iDrive (the car) via Bluetooth
2. Bluetooth loses connection
3. While this is going on, the SOS green light would turn ON/OFF
4. goto Step [1]

It'll do this until I get out of the car. By that time, the battery would be almost zero.

Have you guys seen this before?

I updated to 6.0.1 from 6.0 and when I got in my car (2010 Toyota Tundra with stock bluetooth stereo) my iPhone4 would not connect. I made the phone forget the bluetooth device that was my car stereo, and then repaired it. I can stream music, but I can no longer use the hands-free feature. I cant make calls or receive them. This is very frustrating!

My six month old Plantronics M50 bluetooth headset worked flawlessly with my iPhone 4, but ever since upgrading to the iPhone 5 it began suffering frequent dropouts - the problem is so bad that it renders the headset unusable. I did a warranty replacement for the phone, and when that didn't work, did the same for the headset, which didn't change anything either. Further communication with Plantronics led to them telling me that it's Apple's fault. On my last visit with a Mac Genius at the Apple Store they essentially told me tough luck, that the iPhone 5 uses Bluetooth 4.0 and apparently in practice has proven not to be backwards compatible with some older bluetooth devices. I asked the Mac Genius point blank if she could point me to a bluetooth headset in their store that she could guarantee would work with the iPhone 5 she hemmed and hawwed, and said I could always buy a model and return it if it didn't work. Aargh, shouldn't have to buy a new one in the first place!!!! I just bought my old one in May!!!!!

Same issue as everyone else here. Updated perfectly working iPhone 4 to ios 6/6.01 and streaming audio stopped working on all my bluetooth devices. Since many here use Pandora, etc., I suggest we all cancel subscriptions and e-mail the various suppliers and tell them why. Maybe they can put the squeeze on Apple to correct this mess. Bad maps, bad wifi, bad bluetooth, just bad product.

Well, I solved my problem!!!

Here's how I did it:

1. I login to my iCloud account on the web. Looked at every single item in the Contact List and deleted away the spurious characters that were embedded in there by stupid software which converted my MSFT Outlook address book some time ago. Looks like the latest iOS 6.0.1 could be sensitive to these.
2. Backed up my iPhone on iTune. Restore and phone to factory specs. Restore that backup.

When I went to the car and the bluetooth connected, it transferred the Contact List in less than 30 secs and stayed connected over bleutooth. The connection was stable and there were no additional transfers of the Contact List.

Battery is fine now and the phone does not feel hot to touch.

I am having the same problem with my bluetooth device. I have an LG Tone HBS 730. Before the upgrade the sound was awesome and the music did not skip or sound choppy. Now that I have upgraded my iPhone 4S to the new IOS 6 it sounds like the music is skipping or choppy. Please fix this. I LOVE my music and want to listen to it without the problems I have described.

Heh, that's a little over the top. You do have a choice. If your bt doesn't work use a wired headset. As a completely crazy alternative, pull over or let it go to voicemail.

I used my OOTB wired headset until I could rip my dash out and flash my bt unit's ROM. You too can engage in such mad behaviour.

I fixed my issue. My head unit can sync via Bluetooth with a audio device, a phone, or a device that is both an audio device AND a phone (iPhone). When I upgraded my iPhone to 6.01 it changed it to an audio device only. I deleted my iPhone from the head unit's memory and re-synced it as a phone with audio capabilities. Works as before.

iPhone 4S 32GB. Upgraded to 6.0.1 about two weeks ago. Bluetooth worked fine in my 2010 Ford Escape with Sync, and again with my new 2013 Ford Escape Titanium with Sync/MyFordTouch for about a week, then it stopped working. Now the iPhone's Bluetooth "Devices" setting is stuck at "Searching...". I've tried every reset in Settings, still no go. Deleting all pairings and starting over doesn't work, either, because this "Searching..." problem seems to corrupt any attempt at pairing.

But our other iPhone 4 8GB Bluetooth (not yet up to iOS 6) works fine and I can pair it easily with Sync in both of our Fords. It's not an issue with Sync or Ford, because I also paired a neighbor's Galaxy SIII with both of our cars. No problem.

An earlier post said that Apple support told them that they "weren't aware of any Bluetooth issues" in iOS 6. This thread says otherwise. I don't think anyone should have to wait until Apple "finishes" 6.1 "after the holidays" to fix a widespread Bluetooth bug. And if it's not fixed soon, well, ...

Update: I took my phone to an Apple store. It has two days left on the warrany. Armed with that knowledge, they told me that my warranty was void because my phone had been "submerged". My phone doesn't have a SCRATCH on it, and it's never been NEAR water.

Moral? This is how Apple is dealing with their bug-filled software: blame the customer.

I have had the same problem with my 4S and my Bose Soundlink since upgrading to iOS6. A user on another thread offered the following solution (which I haven't tried yet):

"I too just purchased the soundlink (literally yesterday) and iPad worked fine on iOS 6, but iPhone 4S was not syncing before or after the update to iOS 6. I just figured out how to connect the devices so follow directions carefully. Hard reset iPhone (hold lock + home button together for about 10s). Hold Bluetooth button on soundlink until you hear beep then let go. Now hold mute button until you hear beep then let go. Now turn iPhone back on, then turn on airplane mode. Press Bluetooth button once on soundlink, then turn on Bluetooth on iPhone. Should now be able to see device and pair. I think with wifi and cell on there are too many signals for the phone and it gets "confused" (lol). Not the most ideal solution for some, but I figure you bought the device for tunes and shouldn't care if you miss a call or two while listening. FYI, as i finish writing this i just realized my phone now can find the device consistently, regardless of whether or not airplane mode on. EFF YA I ROCK AND IT'S MY BDAY AT MIDNIGHT!!!
