How come texts and phone calls from MY contacts are going directly to my boyfriend's iphone? We are on the same plan but I think I clicked on something to enable this.

It sounds like his device is the issue and using your phone number. If you go to the send & receive page on his iPhone scroll down to 'Start new conversations from:' and make sure you set his phone to his number and his Apple ID and that yours is set to yours.

Your iPhones setting on this page should be different to your husbands so that the iMessages do not deliver to both devices

I have the same problem. I think I selected my husbands number when I updated mine. When I go to Settings>Messages>Send Receive my number is there but it's gray. It has a check but I can't click on it. What should I do now?

We did but when I was trying to fix this, I got my own Apple ID. I changed the ID in messages and Facetime. My phone number is still gray and I can't call my husband with Facetime and I get a copy of my text when I send it to him.

It probably just had the original settings stuck in the RAM somewhere and turning it on and off again flushed them out and forced your phone to use the new ones.

You're not stupid, turning it off and back on is one of the first troubleshooting tips :)

Are you using the same Apple ID?

Go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and make sure you're not both using the same ID and phone number for receiving and sending

You won't be able to uncheck yours because it is associating the number for which the SIM is assigned. Are you and your husband sharing the same Apple ID?

Well, you'll think I'm stupid. I did the most fundamental thing - I turned my phone off and then on again - tada! I have no earthly idea why it works now 🙂.
