Unknown error 1140 on attempting iPhone synch.

I have updated my iPad 2 & my iPhone 4s to IOS 6. My mac is running OSX 10.8.2 and iphoto 9.4 Now I cannot synch my IOS devices to my Mac unless I deselect synchronisation of photos. The error reported is "Unknown error 1140". Do I need to restore my IOS devices? I am guessing that this is a problem relating to the iphoto update which rebuilt the photo library. Suggestions as to how I solve this problem would be welcome.

After several sync’s after getting the iPhone 5, this also happened to me. I contacted Apple Care and spoke with an Apple Expert in Boise. She checked with a few engineers near her, and none of them knew what this was. So, she emailed me a program to capture data on my Mac and asked me to start the program before I started iTunes sync, and to press “Stop” after I got the error message. I did so, and sent her the files that resulted. This was on Saturday, and she said she’d get back to me on Tuesday.

I’ll post up what I hear/read back.

BTW, this occurred for me just after Step 3, determining apps to sync. Prior to getting this message, I’d successfully performed several sync’s after upgrading to iOS 6 and with my iPhone 5.

If you're not taken to page 11, go there and you'll see a full and easy description about how to diagnose the problem, find the area(s) where the problem lies for you, and how to fix it.

I slightly different method worked for me and I'm now able to sync, including only certain albums, photos with all my i devices.
