Tried to update my iphone to iOs6 and now it gives me an image of my power cord needing to connect to iTunes?
I can't get it to do anything else... anyone have any experience or solutions to this?

When I connect it to my computer - iTunes says:

iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes.

Is there any way to fix my phone w/o completely restoring the phone?!?
I am having the exact same issue.
Running Windows XP SP 3 with an iPhone 4, tried install/uninstall of itunes, restarting of device, nothing working. Can't find forum anywhere else covering this.

Apple must say something about all this mess. I ended up going to the local store for technical support. Finally the problem resolved but I lost all of my data.

I finally folded (since I don't have a few hours to waste at the Genius Bar today) and restored my phone via iTunes. I am glad that it's still alive, but angry that I had to deal with this mess and had to reload all of my music.
iTunes also keeps crashing on me. niiiice...
I can't even get my iTunes to recognize that my iPhone is connected, any one care to share their steps? 😟
I had a slight problem like that and it said to restore my phone and then plug in and update with latest itunes and the ios 6 is then loaded first and then you sync to your last backup
Hopefully you are backing up to the cloud and there is a backup there for your phone. reset your phone to factory settings and start again with update and then sync to last backup... does that sound right?
Not that I know of...It really wasn't that big a deal....worked great after restoring.
The problem is - how do I restore my iPhone when iTunes doesn't recognize that it's connected? My PC said that my iPhone was in DFU mode (it tried to install software for it) but then iTunes didn't do anything and now my phone is back in a loop of the "plug into iTunes" icons.
In settings on your phone go to general all the way to the bottom it says reset. Gives you options to restore wo going to iTunes.
K maybe I need to clarify:
my iPhone only has a cycling image of "connect to iTunes" image and a cable cord.
I cannot do ANYTHING on it.
additionally, neither iTunes nor "My Computer" recognizes my iPhone, despite my PC telling me it initially recognized my device as a DFU iPhone.
Your comments are helpful, Peggy. I'm a newbie and didn't backup to cloud. I'm hoping I'm backed up to the pc. I think I have to restore, so will I lose all my text messages? my calendar? I had a bad feeling about doing the update, but I asked around and got confidence from everybody; nobody suggested backing up first. Now I'm in distress. Any suggestions? Do I have no choice? Is the backup to the cloud the same as the pc?
If you "restore" you'll lose everything on it, beachaddict. You can reload your backup files (contacts, etc.) that you had saved but you'll lose anything that wasn't saved, unfortunately 😟
I have been experienced a glitch with the ringer
buttons not responding since upgrade. I have since fixed this issue. But so far, im not too fond of ios6. mainly the app store redesign. its been laggy. and just hard to search. maybe thats just an iphone 4 issue. i dont know. but if anyone else had similar problems i would like to hear
