Try creating a new iTunes library and call it "iTunes Empty" and see whether you're having the same issue.
To start a new library.
1. exit iTunes
2. hold on the shift key and click on iTunes
3. you will be prompted to choose a library
4. select a new folder
If you are able to create a new iTunes library which should be empty, plug in your device and see what happens?
thank you, your reply guided me on the right track!
i keep getting a 3194 error everytime i try to restore tough...=(
Dont restore. What does iTunes say that your OS level is at? I dont think you can restore iOS 5.0.0 backup on an iOS 6.0.
I dont think you can restore iOS 5.1.1 backup on an iOS 6.0. Now try to downgrade to 5.1.1. Give it a try and see what happens.
uh maybe i explained myself incorrect but that exactly what i'm trying to do. already tried once with no result so i had to restore back to 6.0
now when i select the 5.1.1 ipsw i get that error
Is your phone jailbreaked?
