Aperture 3.4 Terminating app due to uncaught exception

Hi, I updated to 10.8.2, then Update to Aperture 3.4, and Fatal Crash:

Can not Open Aperture, neither my images files.

Do someone have an idea, how could I fix this???

God!.. Why did i update this? ... Please some one help with this issue. Cant open Aperture at all.

Is there a way to revert?

Delete Aperture from your applications folder, and then either re-install from DVD and Software Update straight to 3.4, or re-download from the Mac App Store if you went that route.

The issue isn't with Aperture 3.4. It's with the updater (actually, I think with a previous updater that left a framework around).

If you delete Aperture 3.4 and then re-install from the MAS, or else install from DVD and immediately update to Aperture 3.4, the crashes will go away.

Agree with you. This should not happen with a Mac.

I feel, I was working with an old PC in DOS . . .

Reinstall Aperture by downloading it again from the Macintosh App Store (MAS), after you removed it from the Applications folder to the Trash.

Hello Richard,

it means that you have to reinstall from the MacAppStore (MAS).

Download the app again... or try reinstalling from the dvd of you bought it that way.

Just delete these file (remember to search system files in spotlight) .

Removing ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Aperture.plist worked for me as well, but Aperture crashed right away as soon as I tried restoring the Facebook account in the preferences, with the same error (-[NSURL initWithScheme:host:path:]: path xxxxx is not absolute).

The stack trace below the error point to the Facebook module.

That is why you need to remove Aperture and reinstall - removing the preferences is only a temporary fix: See this recent support article by Apple:

Aperture 3.4: May quit unexpectedly on launch after updating

The drag is that I've been using Aperture since v1.5. In my case, re-installing means two DVDs, as the one I have for v3.0 is an upgrade version which requires having 1.5 installed first :-(.
