How to change built-in dictionary language in iOS6?

When I was using 5.1.1, the built-in dictionary gives me English meaning when iPhone language is set to English and Japanese meaning when iPhone language is set to Japanese.

After upgrading to iOS 6, I can no longer get English meaning of Japanese words from the built-in dictionary. Whether I set my iPhone language to English or Japanese, the meaning is always displayed in Japanese. Please help.

It's been almost 3 months since I started this thread but I still can't use the built-in dictionary. It's completely useless now. Why do I need a dictionary that gives me Japanese definition of a Japanese word/kanji that's even more difficult to understand? Apple please fix what you broke! This is so dissappointing.

It's been more than 3 months since I started this thread. Still no solution. What is Apple doing? My friend told me that the good thing about Apple is that they make the hardware and software so you can guarantee compatibility and bugs can be fixed easily. It seems that it is not the case.

The 6.1 update didn't fix this.

I noticed that if you have the keyboard set to Japanese then you'll get the Japanese definiton, as expected. If you set it to English, you still get the Japanese definition, which is the problem we're having here.

However if you disable the Japanese keyboards entirely under International->Keyboards, the Define option for Japanese words goes away when the keyboard is set to English. Changing the system language will attempt to download a dictionary when you select a Japanese word, but then it says "No definition found" and won't show the Define option for Japanese words again until you re-enable the Japanese keyboard. So it's back to square one.
