GB ver 1.3 on iPad 3 piano (not smart piano) and drum kit have very low volume. Even with the volume cranked.
Something changed in the latest io6 update. This wasn't a problem previously.

I've noticed the exact same thing... 3rd gen iPad after ios6 update. Hoping for a fix soon. I think its the velocity sensitivity as sometimes while playing piano since the update I'll have a rogue note that will be crazy loud, and everything else is still quiet.

I agree that there is an occassional note or two that gets quite loud so I guess you are correct, we are going to have to wait for a fix. Nice to know I'm not the only one that noticed this.
I'm having same problem after updating Grageband on iOS6. It's really the Velocity sensitivity when I tap very hard it play soft. I dunno why.especially on the piano(not smart piano) I think you guys are right, it's something like a bug on the IOS 6 or in the app . We have to wait for the fix soon...
i figure out that, it has something to do with the new iOS, i Installed the previous version of GarageBand wich is 1.2.1 on my iPad with iOS 6 and the velocity sensitivity is having a problem too as what we are experiencing now on GarageBand 1.3 in iOS 6, so im really sure that iOS 6 is messing up with Garageband, apple needs to release a new Update Patch soon.
Thanks for trying the reinstall of ver. 1.2.1 in iOS6 and narrowing down the possible problem area.
I don't know how or if we can get the attention of Apple or Garage Band to address this issue. With only three of us concerned it probably won't get fixed for a while or at all.
Yeah i agree. apple should really care these problems, but soon as they release the new iOS update patch, i hope it will fix all of these problems.
and as a musician and a singer, my next covers are in line so i need to produce it as soon as possible, i've paid this app so we have the right to complain and make Apple fix this,

Then make sure, that Apple hears you and use the feedback form below - the more, the merrier:

Otherwise your righteous indignation may not be heard by Apple, since this a user-to-user community.

Thank you, I just submitted feedback for this. Interesting though, in the drop-down menu for version of GB and version of iOS, they do not have the latest available for either.

I think (hope) right now the developers are more concerned with fixing the first IOS 6 bugs than with updating and maintaining the documentation. 😀
Thanks for that and I will. I wasn't aware of this.

Apple should really fix this and while they're at it.... Give us a decent update. I know I shouldn't rant about it here but for as long as our wish list goes(more tracks, automation, new instruments etc...) I'm sure they could've done waaay better than "update" with "play in background" (which I just don't get) and create ringtones. This should've been ver. 1.2.2 not 1.3
Just feeling a bit insulted...but hey, that's just me. In the meantime it still rocks for what it does and hope things will get better.

does anybody still having this problem?
Yes, this is still a problem on ipad 3. The keyboard is still inconsistent in volume and sensitivity.
Even though the problem still exists in iOS 6, I think I have found a work around:
In the Piano, tap the last button just above the keyboard.
In the window that opens, called Keyboard, turn On the Velocity control.
This will show the velocity control on the left side of the screen over the keyboard. This control seems to be used to set the maximum and minimum volumes of the keys according to how hard you hit the key; so just bring the minimum volume up to minimise this range.
In the Drums, at the top of the screen, tap the 3rd button from the right to open a window that has an option to set the Velocity sensitivity. I've noticed that High sensitivity, or No sensitivity seems to work OK.
Hope it helps.
