iPad 3 - iOS 6 - Camera Connection Kit - SD Reader photo import not working

I'm currently trying to import photos taken today of my son's birth and its just not working. The photos pop up like normal when I attach the reader with an SD card installed, but when I try to import one or multiple images all I get is a pinwheel.

Has anyone else had any luck with the kit under iOS 6?

Please take a look to this thread

We discuss a resolution problem with 12.3MP sensor's

I have Test it with a Panasonic tz-5 no problems.

I also make some test shots with the d90 in lower resolution (size M fine) and it

Works fine.so I have take a look at both cameras tech-sheet and see both have the

Exactly Same CMOS sensor 12.3 megapixel By 4288 × 2848.

Maybe this is the problem. I will test it with a little higher test shot in portrait.

Thank you for finding this out. Seems this will complicate my processes cause I have my camera set to name folders per day which is a sub folder under the main DCIM. This makes it easier to find what I want when I go out photographing things.

Do you know where the suggestion link is?

Also wouldn't it be great if you could pull stuff directly in to the IPhoto app from the camera?

Once again thanks and I will try this later.

Hallo,

i just found out, that the problem dissapeared after i had upgraded iPhoto on ipad.

I use iPhoto 1.1 now. I also upgraded other apps, but I assume that iPhoto was the responsible one.

So if somebody could try and report please.

Before I had exactly the same problem, jpgs bigger as about 5000 pixels were not transferd from the camera connection kit, it ended with a red question mark.

I have updated to iPhoto 1.1.

I tried moving the files from DCIM-subfolder to directly under DCIM (written in all caps on the card) - no luck.

It was working perfectly fine before iOS 6 upgrade - I think I'm stuck having to wait for next update version and hope this is fixed by then, I can't imagine it being a difficult thing to fix, as it was working before.

Hey everyone. I have a clue. I own 2 SD cards that I've used in my canon 5d mk3. One has the problem and the other one works fine since the update. Over the weekend I plan to sync the contents (directory structure and files) and see if it works on both. Failing that, I’ll reformat the card either using windows or each of my 3 cameras with the file contents from either. I want to take my time so I can narrow this down to a fix. I can absolutely confirm that my camera pics are still able to be read from my canon dslr since the ios6 upgrade on one of my cards.

No, I'm using SD card straight out of the camera.

Filenames are exactly 8 characters long (DSCxxxxx), the filesize is about 4,4MB for the JPEG and 24MB for the raw-file.

Just to reiterate, iOS 5 was able to import exactly the same files.

I also did a further test, as I had a brand new, unused SD-card available - so I tried with that if it had been something with my SD-card. No change, could not import any of the images. Also tried formatting the SD-card and importing after that, no improvement.

I don't think it is file and directory names. I have a 32gb transcend that I can put in my camera and take photos and everything works. My 16gb sandisk doesn't. I also have a 16gb compact flash card that I put in my cf-card camera connection kit for iPad that does the same thing. I have sync'd folder names (but not yet full contents). The only thing I can think of is that the 32gb card was formatted on the computer, not in camera like the other 2. I put the magic lantern firmware on that one. I'll try it tonight. Fingers crossed that's the answer.

This far, I've tried with two different (16gb) Sandisk cards, I also have a (32gb) transcend card, so now I tried with that - first wih it having been formatted in camera and then formatting it on the computer.

Still no help, at least for me, wasn't able to import anything from the 32gb transcend card either.

Deleting images works with all the cards, so iPad is able to read the cards, it just can't import any of the photos from any of the cards.
