Hey mate just done the same thing, only sound I'm getting is from unlocking the phone and voice recorder play back, also Siri isn't working and there seems to be no way to turn the volume up. I tried settings no luck, then turned the phone off and switched it on and had a volume slider bar for about 1 second still no sound played..would love for someone to have a solution or explanation!

Hello,

I have the same issue with SIRI on my iphone 4S since upgrade to IOS6.

Siri is sometimes stuck, sometimes siri speaks with a very low voice and sometimes just says that there are problems.

I have rebooted several times my iphone and nothing has changed (I tried through WIFI connection and through 3G radio network, still the same issue whereas before it worked correctly!) Too BAD!!

Any solution or do you have the same issue?

Hey guys.. i had the same problem.. after update to IOS6, my iPhone 4S had no sound from speaker - only with headphones. I did restore and many more.. This problem was solved after i made a phone call with headphones.. (this was cca 10mins long) .. after that.. miracle.. I am able to use my volume buttons and i can hear sound without headphones..

Hi, the same issue happend to my New iPad. The speackers did stop working after i updated to iOS 6. I've tried to restore and did all possible things starting from restore, etc., but no luck and i could not repair it my self. The only hope that Apple knows about this issue and will fix this important bug as soon as possible. But before they release the new update iOS 6.1..., i wonder if there is any legal possibility to downgrade the iOS 6 to iOS 5.1.1 since it was working fine for all of us?

As well I had a problem with my ringing tones. After updating to IOS6 the ringing tones started sounding lower and more mettalic. I did all the usualls untill I read the above "trick" with plugging and unplugging the headphones. It worked a treat. Although an unconventional method I would recommend it as a possible solution.

I too experienced the same problem with my speakers after updating my iPhone 4S to iOS6. Barely any volume and a metallic sound. I called AppleCare who instructed me to restore the phone to rule out a software issue. The restore didn't fix the problem so they are going to send me out a new phone. I'm still not convinced it's a hardware issue as the phone was working perfectly prior to updating the OS. One of my friends had similar issues after updating his software too however when I quizzed the Apple employee he claimed it was the first time he had heard of such an issue. It will be interesting to see if a bug-fix for this problem is realeased in the next update.

After a few more trial and error, I focussed the ringing issue(low volume and more metallic sound sound) down to the bluetooth connection. Every time my bluetooth handset is connected it rings in that "funny mode", once disconnected is fine. I tried various bluetooth headsets and is the symptom every time. I did not think it was a hardware problem as it started after the IOS6 update. So as fas as I am concerned it is a software bug. Wiating for the update which should be coming soon given all the mapping issues that Apple is experiencing.

I have an iPhone 4S and experienced this exact problem after updating from os 5 to 6. I went thru all the recommended steps to correct but none worked. The volume slider did not display and the side volume buttons did not function unless the headphones were plugged in. I finally just holstered my phone. Took it out about fifteen minutes later and it had gone into sleep mode where only the time and volume slider typically display. And for some reason, this kicked the phone into gear and now everything seems fine.

I have a similar issue. After updating to iOS6 (and making no other changes) my iPhone sounds like it has a bad EQ setting on it even though I had no EQ on the iPhone. The bass is greatly boosted as is the trebble. Even with a trebble reducer EQ it sounds sceechy in my car audio system and I have to further reduce the trebble and bass for it to sound close to what it did a week ago before I installed the update.

Having similar problems. Since update, my music won't play thru speakers. Volume buttons do nothing. Phone ringer sound comes thru in settings, but not for a phone call. Siri is silent. I can't say the speakers aren't working; just that they won't play most everything I need to use my phone every day. Not a happy camper. I had no problems, including battery life, with my iPhone 4S until I installed the latest update. Where is the undo button? :-(
