I have a 4S phone and updated to the IOS 6 and have experienced  no volume with my ringer, apps and speakerphone. The ONLY way I can hear my phone ring is through my headsets. I took my phone to the Apple store and they restored it to factory statndards (which I had already done) then stated "oh, you speaker must not be working and we can replace it for $60". My phone is just outside of my 12 month warranty and I did not choose AppleCare since Apple promised support and updates for the life of their product. We pulled up this forum online to show the rep that many others are having the same issue since the update. His response was "anyone can post information online".  So we replied "when the IOS update was released and it was posted online, that was lie? Are you saying  myself and many others are lying about this known issue?" The rep had no explanation and no resolution to the issue Apple has caused. We made it perfectly clear we will NEVER purchase another Apple product, we refuse to give them one red cent for causing an issue that was not defective until the update, and will be going to Android. We told the rep to his face, 'when Apple comes out with an update to fix this issue, remember the bullshyt you spit at us when we voiced a valid compalint". Apple can kiss my "Johnny Appleseed." I advise  those ho are not obsessed with Apple to go Android.

As far as I know, Apple doesn't offer a lifetime warranty on hardware.

The $60 they offered you to replace your 4S, out of warranty, was a deal. You should have taken it. When they replaced my 3GS over a month ago, for this same issue, it was free (still under warranty). If I wasn't under the 1 year warranty it would have been $149 to replace. I'm sure the replacement cost for the 4S, out of warranty, would have been higher than the 3GS.

My replacement for this issue has worked flawlessly for over a month. I've upgraded from 6 to 6.1, 6.1.1 and 6.1.2 without issue.

"Anyone can post anything online" is the most irritating part of this fiasco.  I have been seething since I did the 6.1 update on my 4S and it knocked out my side volume controls and removed my ringer.  I have restored, updated and wiped this thing countless times in hopes that it was me...  Apparently not so.  I have been watching lots of other people on the forums and across the internet struggle with similar issues since the update.  So, I know its not just MY hardware.

    I want my phone back!

Apple has no response, and I cannot un-update the device.  Fortunately, my contract is due for renewal right now.  I might... MIGHT...  Be ready to check out what Google can do for me.  REALLY DONT WANT TO...  But, I am tired of the lack of interest from Apple to help me, the customer.

2012 Fit Fan, pls read my posting in its entirety with a clear consice understanding before posting responses that make no sense.  I refuse to pay Cr-Apple one red cent for an issue they created. I never said they provided lifetime on hardware issues however I stroingly believe they caused a hardware issue with thier software. You can keep kissing their  "Johnny Cr-Apple-seed"! Is 3GS still in existance? You claim it's still under warranty? You may want to upgrade your technology , bruh.

I read your response and shared my opinion. This is a public forum. So prepare yourself for varying opinions, bruh.

Judging by your response to me, it appears you would have a difficult time interacting with just about anyone. The 3GS is still in existence and working quite well for me. I even have perfect sound on my old technology. :-D

This public forum confirms the issue CR-Apple has created for your information. Your assuption of how I interact has nothing to do with the issue iOS 6 has created for a multitude of people that have alos posted on this public forum. So the more you speak on issues that have no affiliation with the update, the more ignorant you sound.  I could care less about your opinion and your old phone.

If you didn't care about my opinion, you wouldn't reply to me. :-D

I agree the thread confirms that this is an iOS 6 issue. I've said as much in many prior posts. In my case; replacing my device solved the issue. If that upsets you, can't help you there. Obviously you have a very difficult time communicating with anyone, as you yourself chronicled with your Apple interaction and your posts here.

I also agree with you that this is a public forum. And since it is a public forum, people will share their results with the group. You may not like them, but they will be shared.

My advice to you; Go back to the Apple store and take them up on their $60 replacement offer. Profusely apologize to the Apple representative you lost your cool with. You said there was no warranty on your phone, so their offer was fair. Unless you think Apple should warranty your phone for eternity or maybe you can talk android into giving you a lifetime warranty?

By the way, my old phone sounds good.

Apparently, you are the only one that has an issue with interacting with me,  and you obviously have too much time on your hands targeting one person on this forum. As I stated, your opinion on how I interact with you or anyone else is irrelevant to the issue at hand and once again your ignorance prevails. I will not be taking any advice form anyone who has paid out $149 to repair an old phone with a warranty.

If you read my post and obviously you didn't, you would know my 3GS was still under warranty. You would also know the 3GS was being sold up until iPhone 5 was released. You would also know that the Apple has set pricing for replacing devices. In my case it would have been $149 to replace the device, out of warranty. I was in warranty, so gratis for me. In your case it would have been much more than the $60 dollar offer you received to replace your 4S.

You chose not to accept that generous offer because, your people skills were in overdrive as witnessed here and you thought you should be warrantied forever. You may want to stop labeling others as ignorant because, it appears you won that race already.

Here's my advice: Go back to Apple. Apologize to representative. Replace "out of warranty" device for $60.

Bruh, You really need to stop not caring about my opinion.

Haha. I understand your situation just fine. Go back to the store and take the $60 offer.

I'm having a great day! I'm listening to music on my old phone. Relax bruhther, life is too short.

Poor baby. This is exactly how you interacted with the Apple representative. Your communication skills are mind blowing, bruh.

Run back to Apple and take the $60 deal to replace your out of warranty phone. The rep is saving you $139.

Plenty of pertinent warranty information for you here: http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_States&product=ipho ne

    Out-of-Warranty Service

If you own an iPhone that is ineligible for warranty service but is eligible for Out-of-Warranty (OOW) Service, Apple will service your iPhone for the Out-of-Warranty Service fee listed below.

    iPhone modelOut-of-Warranty Service
    iPhone 5$229
    iPhone 4S$199
    iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS,
    iPhone 3G, Original iPhone
    $149

Or GoingAndroid is just fine too. When you have a problem with Android, outside your warranty period, you can work your magic there too.
