Oct 23, 2012 1:56 PM in response to mellonryanby nedimfromsouthampton,Yes you are right, it does not say anything about this common issue, but I gues this is because they do not want to admit it ! I am just hoping they know about it.

Oct 23, 2012 11:49 PM in response to joetablaby joetabla,UPDATE. It's clear a number of people are facing by the number of posts around this issue (some percentage of phones exhibit the issue, cant really say how common). Whether or not it's software or hardware (or perhaps a combination) and one that cannot be addressed? I have no idea. I would suggest they include custom option in settings for the user select a fixed output --so the user can choose output routing on demand (decent work around for all the users out of warrenty?). Actually this would be a nice setting for everyone. I would like to see more custom options in general.
Anyway, several people reported here they received new phones after going into the Apple store. I went to the store and had a replacement phone in my hand in 4 minutes. (it's still under warranty). The local staff was extremely courteous and professional. It was not the first case for them as they appeared knowingly, familiar with the issue. Restoring via iCloud was fairly smooth, having an option to initiate the restore before walking out the store was a great feature. It also handles disruptions, data asynchronously streams back as wifi is available (until the process completes). and you can use your phone like normal otherwise. just fyi. -
Oct 24, 2012 6:23 AM in response to JannieRatkeby dgtedavis,I got a new iPhone 4 after two visits to the Apple Store. It took a week or so before it started displaying the same problems as my original iPnone 4 (No Sounds). I was going to purchase an iPhone 5 when my contract is up in early November, but I have decided that iOS 6 has too many bugs. I am going to wait and see if the bugs are cleared up with the next software update. People have been telling me to check out the latest version of the Windows Phone.

Oct 30, 2012 2:38 AM in response to JannieRatkeby Bernabie,What I can tell is the good news that my Iphone 4S is working back normal. After problems with hearing nothing when someone calls me or sms me everything is all of sudden back to normal.
My ring tunes do play again and so everything is fine now.
So my guess is that the problem could well be related to one of the apps installed on your device prior to the update to ios6 and not the update itself.
My thinking is thus that the more apps become updated to the ios6 norm the more chances you will have in your Iphone starting to work back to normal again as it was before the update.
But it´s only a guess.

Oct 30, 2012 8:33 AM in response to JannieRatkeby nedimfromsouthampton,Hey everybody. I found the solution for our problem. I was right that the sound issue has something to do with the dock connector and drains the battery life. I assumed that after the update some of the iphones are having problem which is caused by the dock connector. I opened my phone, took out the working flex dock connector and replaced with new one. I assembled the phone and voala ! The first thing i noticed is, the phone wont turn on by itself as before. After that my volume rocker was working perfectly !! And the last but the most important thing is my battery is not draining anymore !!!
So it is a software issue, but changing a part will fix it!!

Nov 2, 2012 6:20 AM in response to nedimfromsouthamptonby mellonryan,I just updated my phone and nothing was fixed with this update. I am so bummed. My sound still has problems. I think I am going to try your fix---taking the phone apart--but am nervous about breaking it altogether...

Nov 5, 2012 8:54 AM in response to JannieRatkeby doubledutch ,Just update my 4s with iOS 6.0.1 and the speaker/dock-mode issue has not been resolved. I'm definietly not a happy camper. My phone is less than a year old and I did not have any issues with it before updating to iOS 6. People would have more respect for Apple if they stepped up to the plate and acknowledged that something was wrong and a fix was in the works. I traded in my BB for an iphone because RIM use to do the same thing. My iphone is the only Apple product that I own so they shouldn't assume I'll be loyal if a simple issue like this cannot be resolved quickly.

Nov 5, 2012 9:33 AM in response to doubledutchby SignOfZ,I agree that Apple has really messed up here, and honestly there just seem to be more bugs with both iOS and OSX than normal lately. However, doubledutch, if your 4s is less than a year old then why IN THE WORLD are you even messing around on this thread? Your phone is under warentee, you can *make* Apple fix it. Just go to the Apple store and get a new one. People with older phones can't do this but since the 4s is less than a year old there shouldn't be anyone with a 4s that is really stuck.
While it should be impossible for third party apps to cause this issue I'm pretty sure that's whats happening. I say this because my problem is gone and was gone before 6.0.1. Nothing I did seemed to fix it, but the problem is just gone. It must have been because of some rouge app that got fixed. The only thing I can suggest for out of warentee people is to try deleting most of your apps, then resetting, and see where that gets you.

Nov 6, 2012 12:28 AM in response to JannieRatkeby n.dagge,It should be impossible for third party apps to cause this issue because i have configured as a new iPhone with no third party apps only Update 6.0.1. But the problem is still there. No output on the speaker on video only speaker output by telefon.
My iPhone is a iPhone 4 and not an iPhone 4S and i have only 14 days europan warrenty now.

Nov 6, 2012 1:22 AM in response to n.daggeby keomac,I have come to the same point; i completely restored to new iPhone and it has not solved the problem. Further, the problem appears to becoming worse: I now have intermittent issues when outputing sound via the headphone socket, but strangely only when outputing to a line-in on my car stereo, never on headphones.....and never when using a docking station.....stranger by the minute

Nov 6, 2012 1:42 AM in response to keomacby keomac,Update.....problem now occurs on headphones...sound just dies, although the music appears to still be playing (triangle icon on top right of screen)....this is getting very annoying....

Nov 8, 2012 9:27 AM in response to JannieRatkeby 2012FitFan,I can confirm the same issue here (3GS).
When the phone is plugged in and after you unplug it thinks it's still docked and there's no sound. I go into my music, play a track and that seems to jog it back to life and restore the sound. I did a restore of 6.01 and and no luck. Extremely annoying software bug. This should have been addressed in the 6.01 release. This issue was not present when 5.1.1 was loaded.
