iOS 6 wifi connection issues - Apple official announcement

Hello,

For the last 24 hours, I've been reading the same complains about wifi connection issues and more, also I've been reading "solutions" or workarounds to solve this, for some folks those solutions worked, but not for others, like me.

I still can't connect to my home wifi connection, I've had periods of time with wifi access (from 1 to 20 minutes) and then my connection drops. I also tried Facetime and only get 1 minute of connection then again drops out. Viber, Tango and even Apple Store only works for a few seconds then nothing.

I haven't heard any official announcement or statement from Apple about this issue, it seems to me that many people have been experiencing the same error over and over again and also seems like nobody is taking care of it, at least not oficially.

Hope we could hear or find a solution as soon as possible.

Right there with you. I have tried every posted solution (future date / airplane mode toggle / renew ip / auto proxy / forget network / reset network settings / reset all settings / recycle ap). I have done some further testing and I believe it a problem with the dns client.

When my connection stops working I can use the fing app which does a basic ping sweep of my network and sees my devices. Also I use the TiVo streaming app and I can see my local tivos however the phone cannot talk out to the Internet to grab the logos for what ever show/movie I am looking at.

Next I will try to use my standard network testing apps (for a device that says it runs on iOS I would kill to have a real Cisco iOS for testing running on it lol) to do ping/trace route/ and nslookup tests to find the true issue.

Ok after further testing there is an issue with the top/ip stack.

Setting up a continuos ping to my iphone4 running ios6 that's experiencing the problems. I can get the network back by toggling airplane mode. All is working fine. I attempt to download a few apps from the app store (because this is how I can most easily reproduce the network failing) and as soon as I see the download in the app store freeze pings to the phone stop.

And after almost 2 years with this phone and using ghost armor coverings and no cases. This problem started immediately after the ios6 upgrade so don't try to dodge that there's an issue by saying it's a case or your dummy pay wall testing bs.

I've had the strangest problem of all: since my ios 6 upgrade, my iPad 3 has been unable to log onto my home network, but can log on to EVERY OTHER NETWORK IT ENCOUNTERS, including a second net I have set up with an airport express coming off our same router in the house! The iPad sees the network and asks me to a p/w, but won't log on with the correct p/w. All non-ios 6 phones/computers are doing fine. As a test (after trying EVERY solution on this site) I upgraded my iPhone 4 to ios 6 to see if it would encounter the same probem: no. Genius bar yesterday gave me a new iPad. At their suggestion, I came home and checked to see if it would log onto my net pre-upgrade. it did. I then upgraded it to ios 6: same problem! I'm waiting for the iPhone 5 to arrive at my house this afternon just to see what happens, but my assumption is that it will be fine. I have another Genius appointment tomorrow. I'm hoping to avoid having to throw my hands up in the air and buy a new router, but I'm runing out of options. Very strange and frustrating.

I can relate with your frustration. For I spent almost 1 week trying to resolve this. I read the forum everywhere. I tried everything.. Reboot the ipad, reboot my router, delete the network, rejoin the network. Nothing seems to work. I called the Apple support, spent 2 days.

They told me to:

- Go to iTunes.Back up all your data, transfer all purchases to your computer. Of course when I tried to transfer all my purchases, they stuck for hours, then crash everything. I had to redo this 3 times. HOURS!!!

- Restore your iPad from your iTunes. It will erase everything in your iPad, then start fresh as new

- Turn off your iPad

- Turn off your router, give it 10-15 minutes, turn on your router

- Turn on your iPad, join the network

Even though finally it looks ok. I am still going to return this iPad and get a replacement. I just don't feel confident with the device anymore. I just bought my iPad less than 3 months, still got the box. The support told me I could swap my iPad, all I need is to see the Apple Genius. So I made appointment, otherwise the Genius won't see you.

I got tons of questions again from the Genius. He said it is my router problem. Basically, I have a crappy router that came from my internet provider. He said that since they opened the store, he only knew TWO people came in with WIFI issue. I told him, all my other devices connect just fine... but of course, they're "oranges" not Apple.

I thought I'll be getting my replacement right away, but no.. Genius had to place an order first, and they will call me again, and I have to make another appointment to pick it up. I wonder why they don't have one in stock. It's the NEW iPad!!! I hope they're not getting my replacement from some kinda refurbished factory.

This is my first purchase with Apple. So far it is not a pleasant experience.
