that suggests that lsboxd has something to do with sandboxing ... which was enabled in 10.7.5 so maybe it is the root of the problems we're all seeing.
I tried disabling Spotlight, erasing the Spotlight index data (inside the .Spotlight-V100 folder), and re-enabling Spotlight. Not seeing that that gave any improvement. On my Mac Pro, the indexing time is jumping around between 9 weeks and 2 hours. It's saying 3 days at the moment. After 30 minutes, the Macbook Pro isn't even showing an estimate yet. :-(
Separately: I tried the tips to completely disable Spotlight in order to do a TM backup and found that it indeed worked. (I used Terminal commands, not a 3rd party app.) Time Machine on both machines ran at full speed to external FW800 drives while Spotlight was disabled. So, this is at least a way to continue backups.
Like someone else, I'm making additional backups to play it safe, using Carbon Copy Cloner and/or Chronosync - at least until Spotlight finishes indexing and/or Apple releases a fix for all of this mess.

Knowing that much doesn't really help us understand what's going on, though. It does seem there are related (but not identical) issues with 10.8.2, released at the same time.

Peter Bannon suggested that I post my Spotlight suggestions here.
The easiest thing to do is use the Terminal to reindex the mounted volumes. Corruption in the indexes has been known to muck things up. This in the Terminal, deletes and rebuilds the indexes for all mounted volumes, Copy & paste it into the window that pops up when you launch the Terminal and hit the return key:
sudo mdutil -E /Volumes/*
at the Password: prompt, carefully type in your admin password, because nothing shows up on the screen, and hit the return key.
This displays the current indexing status:
sudo mdutil -s /Volumes/*
This is part of my machine's output for that command:
/ (boot volume named SnowLeo)
Indexing enabled.
/Volumes/Docs:
Indexing enabled.
/Volumes/Lion:
Indexing enabled.

I am experiencing the same isses.
I have a crucial ssd HD in a Macbook. When I upgraded to 10.7.5 Spotlight when crazy! Also TM issues also 90 days to back up etc!!!
(I have TRIM enabled on the SSD)
The fix razmarin suggested did not work for me.
Well, its pretty strange, that this fix did not help.. i had exactly the same issue with indexing after upgrading to 7.5.. but may be this helped me because i did clean re-install? i dont know.. but after i re-install 7.5 with formating my hd and resetting home permissions, indexing finished may be in 20 minutes and did not started after that..
and im not using TM, so cant say anything about it..but obviously, its looks like this is a common problem, and apple has to release may be a new version of 7.5 soon..may be there is a reason to wait a couple of days and see what happens..
Same issue here.
I installed 10.7.5 shortly after release. My system crashed (I assume unrelated to the fix), rebooted, spotlight comes on and takes forever. Time for indexing varied between 7 days and 12 hrs despite having a SSD.
System: MBP mid 2010, SSD Samsung 830 512 GB.
After disabling and re-enabling Spotlight for Time Machine use (see: time machine slow in 10.7.5: Apple Support Communities) it is indexing forever - 4 days now - who can beat this? 🙂

I was wondering why my brand new Thunderbolt drive was backing up at 100k per hour...
Tried resetting spotlight. Now have the 5 day indexing time and the machine has the response time of a TRS80.

I have tried these, and also using -I, and at first it seems to work. But after a time, Spotlight stops indexing again, and if I run -s it says indexing is disabled on my boot volume, even though I enabled it! This is happening repeatedly. It also seems like what disables indexing is mounting any other volume.

I am having the same issue. Spotlight indexing says anyware between 3 weeks to 20 hours. Ran all night and still no luck. TimeMachine is also taking forever!
