Oct 20, 2012 6:04 PM in response to NukedKaltakby electronicsguy,you're doing port forwarding for your iphone? or for other devices? you can always configure the router to have fixed-ip and port forwarding for laptops but have dhcp for other devices. why do you need to check the ip? what do you do with checking it?

Oct 20, 2012 6:09 PM in response to electronicsguyby NukedKaltak,With the iPhone I didn't need to forward ports with my new router indeed (everything worked fine out of the box), guess I kept the habit... Other devices include computers and gaming devices...
Last time I had to use IPs was for my shared printer in order to be used by my sister's MBP...

Oct 20, 2012 6:28 PM in response to tobifsby Roids1869,I have had the same issue today. I was connected to my wifi but was unable to send or receive data. I had to reconnect and finally worked. I also noticed after I reconnected that my data speed was alot slower then usual. I restarted my phone and then finally it was working correctly. iPhone 5 Sprint here!

Oct 20, 2012 11:40 PM in response to tobifsby Johnfash,I cannot believe that Apple have not read issued an update for this problem.
My iPad three works absolutely perfectly with a iOS6. My shiny new iPhone five however, does not perform as well. I seem to have issues with the range of my Wi-Fi. I can be sitting next to my wife, who has an iPhone four, and refuses to update and hers is working perfectly when I am having connection issues.
This may help a few people :

Oct 21, 2012 10:27 AM in response to mobg888by frmatt,I have an iPhone 5 with AT&T and cannot get the Wi-Fi to work with the cellular. In order to connect to the internet I have to turn the Wi-Fi off. I saw the Youtube you recommended and note that my Comcast modem is set for both IPv4 and IPv6, but when I turn off the IPv4 it does not connect and I have no specs with the IPv6. Also I tried all three of your solutions and none of them work, nor to all three done sequentially.
I'll try calling Comcast and see if there is anything they can do to connect with IPv6. When oh when will Apple upgrade the iOS6 and solve this issue. It is crazy to think that everyone will have IPv6.

Oct 21, 2012 12:29 PM in response to tobifsby Mr.Stringer,For those following along, I have posted a few pages back describing my wifi issues. I am on my third device, each device has had the same issue. Very low wifi download speeds, less than 1 mbps usually. I have tried most troubleshooting steps, and no luck. Each device I have recieved has had the Apple chip too by the way.
I have been communicating with a very helpful Apple senior support rep and he has setup a ticket with the apple enigneers. I recieved a email back saying that the engineers are very interested in my case and have asked me to answer these questions (my answers in black)AP/Router
* Make Cisco
* Model DPC3825 3.0

Oct 21, 2012 12:38 PM in response to Mr.Stringerby WiseJD,What it makes me want to ask is: Could you have any acquaintances whom also have iPhone 5 come over and see what their iPhone Wi-Fi speeds are? It would be kind of nice if someone just happens to have an Intel Wi-Fi chip set. Although I am not betting that would make any difference. I guess I would predict going for the fourth iPhone 5 is not going to make a difference. I also just wonder if there isn't another router around you could try in the same environment.

Oct 21, 2012 12:56 PM in response to Mr.Stringerby BatteryDrainer,Mr Stringer,
I've been following this string closely, as I'm experiencing the same problems as you and many others - iphone 5 wifi underperforming, or even being non-responsive, while other devices (including iphone 4) work fine.
I have not replaced my phone yet, hoping it's just a software issue, but would like to contribute by answering your questions (below in italics). Just want this issue fixed!
AP/Router
* Make NetGear
* Model WNR2000 (n-draft)
* Firmware Version1.2.3.7NA (latest)
* Hardware Revision ??
* FCCID of AP/Router ??
Network Configuration
- Network Mode (b/g/n mixed, b/g only, a/b/g/n,etc) B/G (54mbps cap, more on this at bottom)
- Security (WPAv1 (TKIP), WPAv2 (AES), WPA-Mixed (TKIP+AES), WEP, WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES]
- Is a MAC filter used? No
- Is this a hidden network? No
Is WMM Enabled? ??
Is DHCP Enabled or is the user using static IP addressing? DHCP
Has the user tried to connect closer to the Router? What is the outcome? Same Result
When the issue is experienced, do non-iOS device work properly? Are these devices wireless? Macbook Pro and Toshiba Windows 7 laptop work fine on wireless.. iPhone 4 previously had no issues - but after playing around and resetting iphone 4 network settings, had same problems as with iphone 5 (both are ios6)
Does this issue only occur at home? Yes
Has the user tried changing the operating channel? Yes, changed manually to channel 11
Has he tried any other work-arounds? Resetting Router - iph4 + iph5 no response, all other devices work fine. Toggling Encryption off, then on - iph4 + iph5 no response, all other devices work fine. Setting mode to B/G (with N off) - both iph4 + iph5 work now, but iph4 performs better from a data transfer speed. all other devices work fine.
When was the last time the AP/Router firmware was updated? unsure
What version of iOS is running on the Apple Device? iOS6 (iph4 and iph5)
If Bluetooth is Disabled, do you still see this issue? yes, Bluetooth disabled
If Location Services is Disabled, do you still see this issue? no, Location enabled
For applicable devices, if LTE is Disabled, do you still see this issue? no, LTE enabled
For applicable devices, if Cellular Data is Disabled, do you still see this issue? no, Cellular enabled
Distance from the Router(include multiple distances portraying signal strength if any)? 10 feet
Do you have different WiFi name for 2.4Ghz and 5.0Ghz, if so which one was used? ??So, for me, the fix was to only enable b/g, with n off. band aid fix and seems to be working, but something apple needs to fix. good luck.

Oct 21, 2012 1:27 PM in response to BatteryDrainerby frmatt,I too have been plagued by Wi-Fi problems with the new iPhone 5. Whenever I had both cellular and Wi-Fi on the internet connection was broken. Only by turning off Wi-Fi could the connection be restored. Nor did Wi-Fi alone without Cellular give an internet connection.
My router is in the Apple Time Machine that I have. I found a potential solution by opening the AirPort Utility and clicking on the Time Machine "edit". Under the "Internet" I saw where the DHCP has the IPv4 addresses and the IPv6 DNS Servers are blank. Below the Domain Name is a button "Internet Options" clicking on it one sees "Configure IPv6:" I put it on "Automatically" rather than "Local-link only" or "Manually". Then on "IPv6 Mode:" I put it on "Native" rather than "Tunnel". Then save. So far both the Wi-Fi and the Cellular are working fine now.
I hope this keeps up and may help those with the Apple Time Machine. The Airport Utility checks for updates every time it is opened and now has Version 6.1 (610.31). The Router on the Time Machine has Version 7.6.1

Oct 21, 2012 2:24 PM in response to tobifsby MWHG,Just picked up my iPhone 5 32GB white today in London and experiencing the same issues as most.
Download speeds around 500kbps compared to 5Mbps on laptops and housemates iPhone 4S.
Tried the basic router reset (standard from Sky broadband) and changing DNS to 8.8.8.8 to no avail.
I really haven't got the time, energy or technical knowledge to resolve this myself....SURELY a resolution will be provided by Apple through a sofware iOS update!!!!!
(not to mention not being able to sync when laptop wifi is switched on...ARGH!)

Oct 21, 2012 3:37 PM in response to tobifsby Blaine13,Was going to get an iphone5 to replace my iphone4. Very glad they are in such short supply as it kept me from locating one and time to see all the problems that have developed. After going through 5 of the new iPads to get one with a screen that wasn't faulty, I began to realize that this is not the old Apple that actually cared about quality and their customers. Instead, it now is not much different from many others that save money to put in their managements pockets by pushing substandard junk made in China! Guess I'll hold on to my iphone4 or start listening more closely to friends that swear by their androids.

Oct 21, 2012 3:42 PM in response to Blaine13by WiseJD,Just go and get an iPhone 5, by far and away most users do not have problems. You are reading a community board where the idea is discussing problems and potential solutions. There is no data available on this board to even suggest a hint at the overall percentage of devices with such issues. After a month now of having my iPhone 5 and knowing others with the new iPhone as well, I have to say most of the people I know are now experiencing these issues.

Oct 21, 2012 4:27 PM in response to tobifsby arjunsocal,I cannot connect to my wifi using my iphone 5 eventhough I'm able to connect using my MacBook Pro. This is terrible, I've been having this problem since I got my iphone 5. Does Apple even recognize this problem? It's pathetic that there is still no update to fix this issue!
