Back to this thread with the new, THIRD, iPhone 5 in my hands.

    Serial number: C39JDXVTxxxx

    Production year: 2012

    Production week: 37 (September)

    Name: iPhone 5

    ModelCode: iphone_5

    Group1: iPhone

    Generation: 7

    Colour: Black

    Capacity: 64GB

    Factory: C3 (China)

And this is the winner. Restored from iCloud the backup of my faulty last one phone.

Absolutely NO ISSUES. This Apple wifi/bluetooth chip (54:26:96 beginning MAC address) working PERFECT.

Joining WPA, WEP and free wi-fi with strong signal. Bluetooth headset in car strong as ever, like my iPhone 4 in the past. So actually, my hardware issue (as suspected) is gone. Hope you all resolve yours.

Having the same problem with iPhone 5 I picked up today (32GB, White, AT&T). Seemed to work fine in the store, when I put it on my network at home it was OK, then I did a restore from my iPhone 4 and the network would connect and let me load one page before giving up the ghost. WPA2 security on network at home (this particular network is on an Apple Time Machine). Other devices, including other Apple devices, see the router and work with it just fine.

Have an appointment at the Apple store this evening.

I understand that problems happen, and it's still annoying to pay this much for a phone that's positioned as "top of the line" and encounter something that was either defective or not sufficiently tested.

I am not going to change anything on the wireless settings because it works fine on every apple device except for the iphone 5 :S

Will there be a software update coming out soon to fix this and other things that are issues?

    Exaclty, same here...

Was on a public network earlier, and it worked well for an hour, then phone would no longer allow me to use the internet, even tho it said i was conected fully..

Took it to Apple who kindly offered to replace ot for me, however, I was a little worried that the new one may be even wose than this one, given the stories and my experience of my previous i5 which just didnt connect to anything!  So i decided to do a restore and see.. if stil no luck, I'll have it replaced..

    Completely fed up..

This is upsetting. Iphone 5 (32Gig) not connecting to Internet now....WAS working fine (for the few times I remember it connecting) nothing. Sometimes it connects, sometimes not, sometimes the dial spins. Once it connects=NOTHING.

Come on guys. This is EASY stuff here. A phone that cannot connect to WiFi? Data plans that are not unlimited.

This is why I am upset. Along with, according to the other posts, thousands of other people. Is there a software fix coming or is this all being covered up in an attempt to get people to go over their new limited data plans????

Also-cannot update via iCloud because Verizon prohibits syncing over the air.

But this wifi issues (poor signal, etc...) is because the hardware or a iOS 6 bug?

  • Peta22 Level 1 Level 1

Oh RTA 33 - so sorry to hear that your phone is doing this again!! And scary too being that I didnt expect that a phone that has been working fine initially would suddenly stop! :( fingers crossed the problem is acknowledged and a fix issued soon!

  • RTA 33 Level 1 Level 1

Thank you Peta22, that's kind of you..

I'll see how it does today/tomorrow & go from there.. Hopefully by the weekend it'll be sorted...

    Hope yours is ok:-)

But this wifi issues (poor signal, etc...) is because the hardware or a iOS 6 bug?

That's the $64,000 question.  If it's a hardware problem, my phone is going back.  If it's software, I can wait for a patch.  I'm suspecting hardware though.  In addition to  the sporadic wifi, the phone does not pick up a signal as far from my home router as my iPhone 4 did.

I've also noticed that the phone takes longer to pair to bluetooth devices than my iPhone 4 did.

This trend is starting to sound like a broke back mountain dialogue.

  • robshook Level 1 Level 1

Received my replacement last night, did NOT restore from backup, and everything continues to work fine today.

  • jaym€ Level 1 Level 1

I can connect to wifi but the signal is not so strong like in my iPad

  • ysik784 Level 1 Level 1

    Same issue.
I wasn't sure that so many people were having trouble with the Wi-Fi as well.

Headed to the Apple store to see what could be done, they did the usual restore the phone on my first appointment; it didn't work. So went to my second appointment at the apple store (yesterday) and they replaced my phone.
Today I'm still having the same issues:
-Phone connects to Wi-Fi for a few minutes, then disconnects (it won't load anything) even though it shows as still connected
-If the signal of the Wi-Fi network is weaker than full strength it won't connect or even find the Wi-Fi network, but my iPhone 4 will find and connect to the networks even if they are not full strength.

(other issues as well with iTunes store and some songs functioning only once or a few times...etc.)

Biggest nightmare about this whole ordeal is ending up with a phone that is nothing but a piece of junk, when I had my iPhone 4 that worked just fine.
