Nov 1, 2012 8:07 AM in response to Shaddowby VivaTerlingua,I've been dealing with this problem since I received my iPhone 5 last week. It did not work out of the box, I could not do an iCloud restore to initialize the phone as it kept dropping the wifi signal. Since there has been no official word on when or if iOS 6.01 is coming out or if it will resolve the problem, I contacted AT&T to try to get something resolved.
The AT&T rep said she had not heard of any problems with the wifi, but then she googled the issue and saw that the problem is out there. She then directed my call to Apple to try to resolve it.
The Apple rep pretended that this issue had never come up before. Said maybe the case was causing the problem until I removed the super thin case. Then she blamed the router until I said I had an iPhone 4 sitting next to the 5 and it was working fine. She then asked me to do a restore to see if that would solve the problem. I told her I would and then call them back with the results.
The restore did not change anything, so I called back and got a new rep. He also acted like this was the first they had ever heard of the problem. He had me reset the network settings and then turn the airplane mode on and off. This of course did not solve the problem. He wanted me to take it to a genius center, but the closest one to me is 150 miles away. He said I could send the phone in for repair which would take 7 days, or they could send me a new phone and I would then send the current phone back which would require a $29 charge plus a deposit on my credit card. I told him I didn't see why my choices were to be without a phone for 7 days or pay a $29 charge when they had given me a defective product. He said that was all he could offer me.
This whole experience has left a very bad taste in my mouth. I understand that sometimes bad products get shipped, it happens. But to deny the problem completely and make the customer jump through hoops to get it resolved is very poor customer service. I really like the phone otherwise, but I'm very tempted to take it back to AT&T and have them give me a Galaxy S3 instead, or just stick with my iPhone 4.

Nov 1, 2012 10:38 AM in response to Carl Jonssonby benjt,6.0.1 did not fix it for me. I still cannot connect to my home network, even after swapping phones and even though all of my other Apple products are able to connect. Time to return the phone.

Apparently there is an update to fix your problem. Released maybe 15 minutes ago. I have not seen it yet, but then I can't connect to wi-fi to find out, lol!
