Nov 15, 2012 9:45 PM in response to tobifsby Dewbe,I was having the wifi issue untill i tried this:
1-Grab your iPhone 5
2-Open Settings, tap on “Wi-Fi”, and tap the blue arrow alongside the connected Wi-Fi network
3-Tap next to “DNS” to manually adjust the DNS entry (Didn’t run NameBench? Try 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4)
It works try it!

Nov 16, 2012 1:58 AM in response to tobifsby Shocker91,Hi all, I just found a solution to this wifi problem, this may not apply to all though.
I've tried every single so-called solution on forums and the only one that worked for me is changing router settings. This is the screenshot
It was previously WPA with AES only, I changed them to those in the screenshot. Hope this can help some of you. Good luck

Nov 16, 2012 4:35 AM in response to Smoke77by obobo,My home router where I have the problem is:
Router: TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND v1
Firmware: 3.13.12 Build 120405 Rel.33996n (latest, April 2012)
I recently upgraded from another router, which the iPhone 5 also had the same problem with:
Router: Linksys WRT54GS v1.1
Firmware: DD-WRT v2.3 (not sure exactly which build)
I also use an iPad 1 (5.1.1) and iPhone 4 (6.0.1) on the same network without any issues. Though only the iPhone 4 gets used on other WiFi networks, and I haven't used it on my work network.
I don't quite understand why the iPhone 5 has a problem returning to the same network, when it's fine if it's reset and connected to it first. Some kind of cached settings issue? Hopefully Apple will get to the bottom of it, one way or another.
I was tempted to try iOS 6.1 beta 2, since I have a developer account. Though I haven't read anything that suggests there have been changes for the issue since, so I'm not sure it's worth the trouble.

Nov 16, 2012 4:39 AM in response to oboboby obobo,I forgot to mention I'm using WPA2-PSK with AES on the current TP-LINK router. With the old Linksys router I tried WPA2 with both AES and TKIP, though that was before the 6.0.1 update, which may invalidate those results.

Nov 16, 2012 12:00 PM in response to oboboby Smoke77,How do you know that firmware is the latest? If your router is telling you it might be wrong. I have a D-Link DIR-615 and it said I had the latest version. I looked online and found out it was not the latest version, so I updated my firmware and now I have no problems with Wifi.

Nov 16, 2012 1:34 PM in response to Smoke77by obobo,The TP-LINK router firmware was 2 versions out of date when I bought it a couple of weeks ago, so I flashed it with the latest version reported on their site. As of this morning it's still the latest version on their site. Before upgrading I did check that the iPhone 5 still exhibited the same symptoms, and though it was worth checking the latest.
Last night I tried switching the phone to static IP, and entered all the settings manually (just copied from what I knew it used for automatic, including the Google DNS servers everyone's recommending). I still had to reboot it when I got home from work today, so it's not a magic fix for me.

Nov 17, 2012 12:06 AM in response to tobifsby qkpham,Could you guys with inconsistent speeds but no problem connecting try local streaming with apps such as Air Video free ? The issue dies not seem to be related to wifi since it plays perfect locally. Only internet streaming is struggling.
Thank you.

Nov 17, 2012 6:59 AM in response to Albeitby Patsywright,Let just have people everywhere we go change there router just so the iphone5 will work. Come on APPLE FIXES THIS PROBLEM. If they don't fixes this with the new ios6.1 it's the phone not software. Then I will need to get my 3rd iPhone. Not happy.

Nov 17, 2012 7:37 AM in response to tobifsby GOM2012,This is ridiculous. I don't know what happened to iphone 5, software or even hardware problem but this is not a typical apple. My wifi signal strength and connectivity is so spotty weak now and even my LTE/3G gets locked up sometimes. Very very disappointed. Starting to believe that Apple is losing its fame of quality product and great customer support.

Nov 17, 2012 12:46 PM in response to tobifsby atreggie,Having the same issue! Tried all of the suggestions. Even the one's that say "There's an easy fix for this". Nothing fixes the problem. Argh!.. WiFi on my iPhone 5 is spotty and unusable while iPhone4, iPhone3, 2x 1st Gen iPad's, 2x iPad3's, and a MacBook Pro all work flawlessly. Come on Apple!! What's up?

Nov 17, 2012 1:43 PM in response to tobifsby Rusty182,I'm so disappointed with my iphone 5 :( the wifi is terrible like everyone else's, I've had 3 phones now and gonna have to get my 4th soon. I've tried it on two routers at home, my friends router, mobile wifi, hotel wifi and a few Starbucks and its terrible on all of them. I can't leave my living room without losing wifi!
In my house I also have 3 laptops, a wireless printer, two iPod touch, an iPhone 3GS, MacBook Air, ipad 1 and my iphone 4 that I downgraded from and all of them work flawlessly.
The apple technician that was helping me hasn't replied to my email for a week now and I still have a useless phone, disgusting when its the most expensive phone on the face of the earth and I even bought the 64GB one :'(
This thread has had nearly 300k views now and apple have done nothing to resolve the situation?!
I've tried every suggested fix so dont know if I should push for a 4th phone and hope I land a working one or if I should tolerate this waste of space until my contract runs out and never buy an apple product again?:'(
