Q: iPhone 5 wifi issues

My iPhone 5 connects to wifi networks and remembers them, but receives absolutely zero data through the network. LTE and 3G no problem... Off to the repair shop (after 3 hours of ownership...) or any ideas??

iPhone 5, iOS 6

Hey Russ, is your WMM on or off?

So far as I am aware, the AirPort Extreme does not support WMM. If it's there - I'm not seeing it and a quick Google search didn't turn up anything.

The new version of iOS 6 was supposed to fix the wifi issues on the iPhone 5. If you don't have the latest version of iOS, try that...

    You're kidding, right?

Russ T,  I'm about to fly from VA to AZ for Christmas with relatives. Send me an email. My address is at the top of the wifi.pderby.com web page. I can help you with ways to measure throughput accurately.

Thanks! I did not know that, yet apple says it should be turned on but people connect better with it turned off.

What doesn't make sense to me is, if only a small percent of people are affected why are people going through 3-4 ip5 with same problem. That's why I think it's a bigger problem. Or users routers, but if that's the case all apple routers should work, which isn't the case.

Same problem with mine. I'm much sure it was caused by iOS 6.0.2. I didn't have any WiFi issue before upgrading to 6.0.2!

I agree.  The post that this is a small percentage comes from the number of posts here.  We don't know how many don't even know about these post and are having problems.  Not only that what explains the posts where the Apple reps. admit they are told not to acknowledge there is a problem.

Does anybody seriously believe that, in the remote likelihood that some Apple reps were told not to acknowledge a problem, that such an Apple rep would then turn around and tell somebody that that had occurred?

True enough. However, people putting false statements down does not help anybody with resolving problems.

Who is to know what is true and what is false!  For all I know you work for Apple.  Talk to the people at public hot spots, there you will get the story.  Even if you don't, what of all the post concerning all the phone replacements!!

After 90 mins finally got my New iPhone 5 to work with wifi issues.

Here is what I found, all my pervious apple product, ipad, Itouch, 3GS worked fine, but 5 would say " unable to connect"

It was router and iPhone compatibility.

Here is what I changed :

Access your router mine is Linksys WRT310 N

Access your device under Network of your PC

    Go to Wirless

    Under Wireless MAC filter

Add your iPhone 5 wifi acces filter number, you can find this in your iPhone 5

general- about- wifi address number of iPhone five

Enter the number on your router

    bingo!

I hope this will work for you all too.

"For all I know you work for Apple."

If you truly believe that Apple works that way, you are a fool to buy any of their products.

Why would your MAC address be filtered by your router if it was not added as filtered?  Most important how will this help you on a public hot spot??

    DJNY,

I guess you missed the point.
