Q: iPhone 5 wifi issues

My iPhone 5 connects to wifi networks and remembers them, but receives absolutely zero data through the network. LTE and 3G no problem... Off to the repair shop (after 3 hours of ownership...) or any ideas??

iPhone 5, iOS 6

To all those who instaled 6.1. try restarting your phone, but doubt that will help

Curious how you easliy found the security document? If click on the link in the iOS 6.1 software update page it takes you to an old document with no mention of iOS 6.1. Searching your text via google turned up the new 6.1 security document  HT5642. Just curious without knowing its out there how you would find it

On my Ipad it was a link on the 'more info' page while updating, pretty sure thats where I came across it. Anyhow it wasnt like I went looking for it. I found it and thorught I would mention it once I saw someone else mention it

I Googled "ios 6.1 release notes" and clicked on the MacWorld link. From there had a link to Apple's site on it. I also saw a 'More Info' (or similar) button next to the actual update as I was downloading it on my phone. It also led to the Apple site.

Thanks Though I may be completely unobservant. Interesting the security document link in the software update page is not the updated one.

Still the same problems: I'm 3 meter apart from my wifi router: download speed is 55,98 Mbps, one meter to the left: it drops below 1 Mbps, one meter to the right: no problem.

    Wifi connectivity is random.

I Thought it was a software problem since everything worked fine up until iOS 6.0.2. So I had high hopes for 6.1. But it hasn't changed anything.

Now I'm stuck with a faulty iPhone, bought in New York. There are no official Apple Stores in Belgium, apple care told me I have to take the Phone back to the Apple Store where I bought it!... That's 6000 km. Great service. I feel really blessed and privileges to own such a marvelous device. *sigh*

Couchar, can you try a hard reboot and let us know if that changed anything?

Hold Home + Power for about 15 seconds until Apple boot logo appears.

I know the update rebooted the phone, but after adding my network back and doing a hard reboot, it worked fine again.

It's odd, but it worked for me.

    To ALL Apple Users:

I'd like to let everyone know that AFTER all my WiFi Woes since IOS6, based on my tests in my company, i can confirm that the below WAP now works with Iphone 5 with IOS 6.1. About time Apple fixed this.

IOS 5 is OK, but anything after or between IOS 6.1 is a disaster.

    Netgear Pro Safe WAP WG102

    Firmware V5.0.3

NOTE: Firmware V5.0.3 had known connectivity issues with Iphone 4S and Iphone 5 from my tests.

A NOTE for everyone, i'd be tweaking around with your FIRMWARE again on your WAP devices, perhaps you might have good luck finally like myself.

Now for a Slap to Apple,

As per your brief on the update:

    Support Article: http://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/

Explain to me how all of a sudden

    Netgear Pro Safe WAP WG102

    Firmware V5.0.3

Is now working with the LATEST firmware on IOS 6.1.

The UPDATE is MORE than LTE support, seems like more support for WAP Devices somehow ?

Apple should publish EVERYTHING what was changed in this update

I am good coming home from work again. That's not to say I haven't been good coming home before, but so far it's looking good. Is there anyone who has/had the problem where it connects ok but goes nowhere until you reboot fixed or not fixed as well? I see a few 'didnt help' type posts where they don't outline what the problem was/is.

IOS 6.1 didn't fix WIFI. The higher priority was SIRI and purchasing tickets through Fandango, lol

    WOW!!!!

After the latest update, my iPhone 5 FINALLY connected to the WAP Netgear Router at my work location!!!  This was a thorn in my side from day one!!!  My tech department wouldn't change ANYTHING and I had to just use LTE ($$$$$$). So glad this is FIXED!!!

Interesting that the notes didn't even mention a fix for that particular WiFi issue........

So Shanon, I read pretty much all your posts so if I recall the only way you ever got wifi to work on Netgear was to downgrade to an older firmware on the router. So once you updated to iOS 6.1 I assume that still worked then you updated the firmware on the router again and it continued to work?

I would be interested to see what Netgear has posted regarding this in a day or so. They have pretty much had a "we know Apples latest dont work" message posted for months now.
